And I LIVE in Russia, so yes, I know what’s going on with gay people here. They walk freely on streets but yeah, they sometimes get stares, or if they too unlucky and unwary they could be beaten up by some drunk man. But it’s not like he wouldn’t be detained or penalized for this. Surely Russia is not the best place for gay people to live, because of situations like this, but not the worst either.
By the way, I’m gay and many of my friends too, and it’s not like our parents were ever encouraged to kill us. Where did you even get this info?? I never was beaten, I never was detained and I feel pretty safe to live in my country and in my town, where lots of people know my orientation and I don’t know anybody who would disrespect me for who I am.
About Chechnya.. our government trying to deny it, but yes, in USSR gay people really WERE detained. In USSR a lot of innocent people were datained, tortured and merdered. Those times weren’t good for anyone.
All I was trying to show in my art is that right now there’re lots of russian people who are more then ready to accept gay people, but there’re still ones, who were born before the collapse of USSR. They have different mentality and lesser tolerance, so there’s nothing that we could do about it.
