11 Celebrities Who’ve Had Depression — And Spoken Out Bravely About It
Here is a great article that was posted on Bustle.com about celebrities who have struggled with depression. This is a perfect example of how mental illness affects all of us. Even though we may not understand it, we must not judge it.
So much of the stigma regarding mental health stems from judgement, and the lack of kindness. We are so quick to point a finger at other people, to judge others. The truth is, we don’t know what anyone goes through. We need to keep kindness in mind.
This sentence simply states what I am trying to advocate. I understand that mental health is a very heavy, serious topic, however it is a topic that we must speak about. I want my readers to realize that a person who suffers from bipolar disorder is not defined by their mental illness. A lot of mental illnesses can be handled with the right medication, therapy, and support system. Someone who suffers from this disease does not have to disappear. They can live happy and healthy lives in recovery.
I am not defined by my mental illness. I am not even defined by how I deal with my mental illness. I am who I am and that is the end of that.
