The catalyst that started Stormborne was the Miitopia Mii Creator. I'm dead serious. I was like "oh, i'll mess around and make a silly OC. I'll probably forget about it and never finish the game."

I was so, so incredibly wrong.

I, now five years later, live with all of those dorks in my head; Always thinking of them, and what they've become. Keep writing. Keep looking up.

It's been over five years. A lot of the original concepts have become hazy in my memory, which makes me wonder how exactly I came to make Stormbornes as a concept.

I know the stories behind each Elemental, for sure, but Stormbornes? They weren't even originally attuned to the weather of their origin, instead having dark magic that manipulated souls. Where did I get any of this from?

I also ask this because of the sheer irony. My book series that I've dedicated thousands of hours of work to, is centered around the very thing that petrifies me.

The only real theory I can wrap my head around is the fact I had to write a children's book for a class mere months before the catalyst of Stormborne (what really started the ball rolling), and it was based on a child's fear of thunderstorms. It might've still been fresh in my mind, which would explain at least some of it.

Skyfruit's one of the most redesigned characters in the series. I think the only thing I'd change from 2025's rendition is probably the fact she only has three toes on her hind feet. That was probably an oversight.

something i seem to so often forget is that when it comes to worldbuilding/book writing, not only do you get to witness the characters grow canonically; but conceptually, too. you get to write every piece of them; so you watch them grow from a simple being with a face to a beautifully built character who feels like a real person. and you get to watch them become their best self as the story progresses; it's a beautiful thing.

i love my characters. i love stormborne. i keep writing for their sake.

Fortune would occasionally see visions that would later come true. Not all of them, but the ones they saw more frequently had a tendency to be accurate. They kept seeing visions of the Elementals, beings that would come to exist once the world needed them most. But how these beings would come into existence was a mystery, even to the gods.

how strange yet utterly peaceful it would be to live in a world where there never was any hate to others' identities. where it was such a norm to where they didn't even have names for sexual orientations and non-binary identities; they just existed without any hatred stemming from that existence.

of course, i fear the world can't be completely free of hatred, but that hatred being over people's actions instead of who they are seems to be a lot more logical.

Stormbornes are beings born during the atrocious storm that plagues Forestia once every 40 years. The storm was created by Wrath as a counter to Warden's creation of Forestian Fruit Dragons, unique reptiles that grow within a special fruit upon a Dragontail tree at around 40 years of age. The delicate balance of elegant guardian and chaotic catastrophe was just one of many intricate compositions that the Ancients created for the world of Kaldor.

Snowdrifter - Species

Giant winged reptiles that inhabit the Great North, Snowdrifters are mostly docile to anything that can make it to (and survive in) their frigid home. They live in flocks that resemble small villages, creating igloos to keep their eggs from blowing away in the high winds. Were a threat to ever arrive to their habitat, they have more than just their sharp claws to defend themselves; they're equipped with icy blasts that freeze & stick instantly to their target.
