ELROND: a portrayal note.
very important to my portrayal for elrond is that he is not going to immediately sail west. he will stay with the remaining noldoren elves as the master of imladris with celeborn as their neighbor, who also stays for a time. while it will be incredibly painful to watch arwen fade, i can’t imagine he would just leave his sons behind and miss the rest of his daughter’s shortened life. while weary from both his separation from celebrian and from the strife that comes with war in general, i just can’t imagine himself forgiving himself for not being with her for as long as he could. the man lived through captivity in a young age, and despite it saying that he and his brother were eventually loved by maglor, he was still brought up by the murderer of his people and remained incorruptible ; a few more years will not see him waste away before he sails to the west.
blog update is totally complete, im just missing tom and beorn on my character list as i would like to read their book sections again more thoroughly first.

If you can’t find the Elrond Thirst™️ on tumblr you’re not following the right blogs. So many people simp for him you have no idea
I mean, that's nice but I'm clearly not talking about people who don't simp for him. I'm talking about people who I've seen and spoken to who dismiss him because of those who judge the character solely on how the actor looks. This doesn't even touch on the wildly harmful, fetishistic (and often homophobic) idea that male elves must be androgynous to be beautiful, which is just as prevalent. (Elvish beauty is also often used as a conventional standard of beauty by those who only watch the films, to the detriment of older characters or the dwarves jackson did not intentionally make 'hot') not to mention divorces a character from his deeds, flaws and emotions and holds him solely to the standard of whether someone thinks he's hot or not.
That said, I'm also not looking for simps, so i am following the right people.
