Episode III: All or Nothing
This is the first adventure for StĂ„r WĂ„rs that I wrote myself. A short one to use as a buffer while I thought out what to do next. And what to do next turned out to be to introduce a new player to the bunch. This doesnât happen until episode IV though, so youâll have to hold on for a bit longer. For All or Nothing, a simple fence-the-goods type story played out with some chaos and betrayal. Enjoy.
All or Nothing
Well back on the ship, the crew of the newly dubbed Coy Dragon discuss what to do next. They are in space above Geonosis, with three large crates of Ryll Spice in the cargo hold. Bogg Sall and Nen both question why they took it, but Koy insists on the fact that there is a lot of credits in spice smuggling. âYou just need to know the right people, and I think I know exactly who to call.â Nen raises an eyebrow, and asks âYouâre not setting us up with another Hutt, are you?â Bogg Sall nods quietly in consent. Koy, on the way to the comms, stops and turns. âNo, but weâre close to Rodia, you know? I happen to have an old contact there.â
Upon contacting said old contact, Koy gets a few coordinates to set a course by. They are told to travel to Rodia, to a place called Outpost 16, and look up one of her crewmembers for further instructions. Outpost 16 is a hideout and landing zone for smugglers who wish to meet away from the prying eyes of the authorities, out in the murky swamps of Rodia.
After a short jump to Rodia, the crew enter the planetâs atmosphere and manage to land without much issue at Outpost 16. On the platforms beside them are two other ships, a green Skipray Blastboat and a Firespray that seems pretty banged up. By the side of the Firespray, a Devaronian woman and a human argues about something. They stop as Koy, Nen and Bogg Sall disembark, and watches them for a while. The human disappears into the ship while the Devaronian watches the group silently. The awkwardness is broken when a young Rodian appears around a corner. âHello! Am I talking to the crew of the Coy Dragon? My name is Karsin, and I was told that you had some wares for Reesto.â Koy looks him up and down. âYes I- we do. Where do you want it? And where is Reesto?â Karsin turns and bids the group to follow.
Karsin leads them through the short streets of the outpost, to a small office beside a merchantâs stall. He sits down behind desk and starts working a computer terminal. âOkay, so. Ryll Spice was it? Three crates? As soon as Iâve put these things into the computer, I can get you the coordinates to the drop-off place and you can go meet Reesto.â He starts putting in numbers on the computer, before getting interrupted by Bogg Sall. The Mandalorian speaks softly for a person so large. âWhy are you here and not your boss? And why would you send us alone out into the swamps? This smells like a trap to me, Alor.â The last sentence is spoken to Koy, who shakes her head. âI trust Reesto⊠mostly, but yes, I guess it sounds a bit like a trap. Karsin. I think that when we go, you better come with us. Nothing personal, so weâre sure there will be no funny business.â
Karsin looks up, worried. âWhat? Why? I assure you there-â He glances at Bogg Sall, who looms over him, menacingly. âFine, ok. Ok. Iâll come with you, I promise you thereâll be no funny business. Iâm done here anyway, so lets go.â He stands up and beckons the group with him out towards the landing bays. âWeâll bring the crates with us on our speeders. Help me load them up, would you?â
After some loading of the speeders, the group are on their way. Koy and Nen travel together on one speeder, and Karsin and Bogg Sall on one. On the way there, Bogg Sall tells Karsin of all the bad things that will happen to him if they are betrayed and put in a bad situation. Karsin promises that nothing bad will happen, but Bogg Sall insists that they do not trust either Karsin or Reesto.
A couple of hoursâ ride out in the swamps of Rodia takes the group to a large bunker on a small island in the middle of nowhere. Darkness has started to fall, and Karsin comments that they might not be able to leave the outpost until tomorrow if the meeting takes too long.
Outside of the bunker are a couple of parked speeders, and a some smugglers who seem to patrol around the building. They park their speeders outside as well, and enter the bunker, meeting Reesto. The female Rodian walks up to Koy and gives her a hug. âKoy! How good of you to come out here! And⊠Karsin? What are you doing here? You were supposed to- No bother, youâre all here now anyway. Karsin, would you go up to my office and fetch me a data pad? Koy, dear, how have you been? Havenât seen you in forever.â Koy wriggles out of the hug and dusts herself off. âIâm good, Reesto, just fine. Iâd rather just get payed and go back to the ship to be honest. Letâs get this over with.â Reesto tuts and shakes her head. âSo stressed Koy, why donât you relax a little? I have some potential buyers here already, and I think they would want to have a word with you.â
From another room enters a reptilian humanoid, accompanied by a Gand and two human thugs. They can hear a sound from behind them as two speeders halt outside the door and the Devaronian and the human from the outpost enter. Reesto shrugs apologetically to Koy as she starts to head towards the door. âSorry Koy, they really wanted your head. Seems thereâs a bounty on it, and they gave me a real good cut of it in exchange for you. Gotta run!â She and her guards start to leave the bunker, and the door starts to close. Trex raises a pistol towards Koy, starting to say something to her. Koy though, ever quick on the trigger, pulls her blaster on him and fires before he can utter a word. Bogg Sall rushes the shorter Gand and starts laying down blows on the creature. Nen pulls his blaster rifle while he takes cover behind some crates, and starts firing on the Devaronian, who does the same.
For a short while, there is chaos and a cacophony of blaster shots and screams. And then silence. Bogg Sall, covered in blood, has put the Gand and some of the humans down. Koy managed to get of a perfect shot through Trexâs chest, and Nen won the duel with the Devaronian woman. Koy runs to the doors, managing to get them open, but itâs too late. Darkness has truly started to fall, and Reesto and her gang has left on what speeders were left and scuttled the others. Bogg Sall starts throwing the bodies on a pile without really looking over them any further. And when they turn around, they can see Karsin walking out of the office inside the bunker. His eyes go wide as he sees the destruction and he runs back into the office, closing the door after him.
Bogg Sall follows and manages to break in the door. âKarsin, I told you what would happen if you betrayed us.â Karsin hides behind the desk, crying. âBut I didnât know, alright! I was just gonna send you out to meet up and sell the kriffing crates, nothing else! She didnât tell me anything!â Bogg Sall looks at Karsin, and then they smack the poor Rodian unconscious with the butt of their vibro-ax.
When they return out to Nen and Koy, Koy looks up form the pile of bodies. âStrange, I thought I got him on Ryloth. Oh well, if we leave them here I donât think theyâll get back. I called R5 to come get us. We canât travel through the swamps in the dark, and without speeders. I think that is the best thing we can do. What do we do with Karsin?â Bogg Sall drops the unconscious youth on the floor. âI say we leave him. His problem. He betrayed us. I would kill him, but I guess if itâs true that he didnât know, he doesnât deserve it.â Nen shrugs. âLetâs leave it at that. The boy had a rough day. Itâs gonna be tough enough to get back to the outpost from here.â
An hour later, the Coy Dragon arrives. They pile into the ship, dragging two damaged speeders along with them. Nen insisted that they take something with them, so they donât lose everything on the dealâŠ
