I wanted my gifs to be about something being created and destroyed. I got a few of them to work. Others would work a few times then freeze up and become just images. I wanted to create the illusion of something there, tamgable, and then be completely gone. BUT WAIT its back again in a weird trippy loop.

Artist Statement for Collages

Feeling trapped and free are very intriguing feelings to me. Feeling trapped is a very heavy emotion to feel. I often find myself feeling trapped in my own head and thoughts so I chose to focus on that for on of my collages. For the other I chose to portray all the other ways you can feel trapped in this world; by time, thoughts, in a cage, and in a web (whatever ind of web that may be). 

For the opposite word, Free, I chose to show a human completely stripped down to the bone. Free from any constraints, even your own skin. The flower is meant to represent the soul, the purest form of a human. The skeleton’s bodies are shown in a very raw, vulnerable way. Which is how one should be when there feeling free.

Plagiarism Lines Blur for Students in Digital Age

Quotation: “Ms. Brookover, who works at the campus library, has pondered the differences between researching in the stacks and online. “Because you’re not walking into a library, you’re not physically holding the article, which takes you closer to ‘this doesn’t belong to me,’ ” she said. Online, “everything can belong to you really easily.”” 

Comment: That quotes makes an interesting point. People in this day and age can access and download or copy anything with a click of a button. I think its interesting how many people have the mentality of what is said in the above quotation. I find it interesting that its hard to find things today that aren’t copied in some way or reference something else. But as an artist I don’t know if I would be flattered if someone stole my art or angry not getting some of the credit.

Question: What constitutes something as stolen and not just remixed?

Court Rules In Artists Favor

Quotation:  “To me it’s a missed opportunity to really bring some clarity to this issue,” he said. “How do you decide whether something is transformative or just not quite transformative enough?” - Daniel Brookes

Comment: This is such a hard situation.. how can anyone judge someones art like that, telling them its not transformative enough. I think especially in this case he added and took away enough of the original to make it his own. 

Question: How many more court cases are there going to be before their is clarity to what is transformed enough?
