I think I'm dying.
Avery, please. That’s hardly a tasteful thing to say.
But it might be true.

I think I'm dying.
Avery, please. That’s hardly a tasteful thing to say.
But it might be true.
Oh thank you. You’ve got amazing cheekbones. And curves for days.
Science? Sure. I mean, I’m a cook so I know all about measuring things.
Oh, uh, thank you. Everyone has always told me that I look like my grandmother did when she was little.
Well, I'm almost always in the labs workin' on that. Before the outbreak I was workin' on another degree from Georgia Tech.
I think I'm dying.
I wouldn’t be surprised.
Very cheerful. Thanks for the vote of confidence.
I think I'm dying.
Oh, right. So you’re apart of the famous trio, huh?
I wouldn't call us famous.. infamous maybe.
Stories about adventures mostly, like… knights, and dragons, and stuff!
Then I have the perfect story for you. There aren't any dragons or knights, but there are pirates!
It's called The Princess Bride.
I think I'm dying.
I wouldn’t exactly use the word fun. What’s your job?
I work in the labs. I think they're calling the three of us investigative scientist now.
I think I'm dying.
Yeah, that’s just not how it works for me. [He said, trying to not sound cold. Nobody seemed to quite understand that resting in his bed just wasn’t an option for him]
[Clay looked at the notebook and couldn’t help a little smirk,] It’s only lame because your work is lame. [He joked, nudging her shoulder softly] Apart from that I totally know the feeling. Not keeping myself busy just isn’t an option. I just want to be healthy again and back at the pub, 3 years working there everyday and I’d still rather be there.
Alright, alright, but a few minutes won't kill you.
Hey! [She nudged him back.] It's not lame! I'm goin' to save the world one day... I hope. I mean, I could. Maybe. Can I ask you somethin' Clay?
Well… what do you have? Could you suggest something? Or, wait! Read me something!
It's mostly just textbooks and journals. I have a few fictions that I really liked growing up though. I, uh, I guess I could read you somethin' if you want. What sort of books do you like?
I think I'm dying.
After lots of annoying tests, they assigned me as a hunter.
That seems like a fun job. I could never do it, of course. They won't even let me touch a gun.
I think I'm dying.
Eden Markos. It’s nice to meet you.
It's nice to meet you too. What have they assigned you to around here?
Do we have any books? I haven’t read one in awhile.
I keep a pretty big stash, actually. I managed to have a lot when the outbreak happened. You can borrow any one that you want though.
I think I'm dying.
Keep on defending, you’re good at it.
Well, thank you. I'm Avery, by the way.
I sure hope so. I’m way too pretty to die. Although maybe it’s good to die now while I’m pretty. -scrunches her face slightly in thought-
I know the undead are walking around us and everything, but you should still take some time for yourself. To keep your sanity. -moves on to trim and file her other hand-
I'm sure you'll always be pretty. You're a very pretty girl.
Myself time is usually when I stay after in the labs. That's what I like to do, actually. Do you know much about science?
I think I'm dying.
Well, I do, because I start losing my mind and then I freak out and I just make everything worse.
Glad I can help. [He offered her a little smile and shifted a little in the bed, leaning against the headboard and getting comfortable.] Boredom is the other reason I go around helping everyone.
Then take a deep breathe and don't freak out.
[Avery adjusted and leaned her head against his shoulder. She held up a notebook that was covered with calculations done in a sloppy handwriting.] I understand, sweetie. I've been goin' out of my mind not bein' able to work. Oh, that sounds really, really lame doesn't it?
I think I'm dying.
Hey, I never said it was a bad thing.
I guess I'm just used to defendin' him to people. He tends to step on toes.
I think I'm dying.
Believe me, I get worse if I don’t do anything. [He sighed, but nodded and sat down next to her like she was asking.] Here, here. I’m sat. Happy?
No one gets worse from relaxing. I know it's a hard pill to swallow, but people will be fine if you just sit and talk for a while.
I'm over the moon. If it makes you feel better, you're helpin' to relieve my unbelievable boredom.
Still. No medication. One of us could easily go in the middle of the night. Xander only got worse in a matter of hours.
-pulls out her case and sighs, having a coughing fit before moving to pulling out the file and starting on her nails- Yeah, I noticed. They’re pretty bad. I didn’t want to be rude or saying anything but you brought it up…
We're keeping mostly well, and we've got people checkin' on us twice a day at the very least. I think we'll be alright.
[Avery patted the girl's back through the coughing fit, a motion that her grandmother had always done for her when she'd been sick.] I just don't really have time to worry about them much.
