So, to make my existence on tumblr a little bit less of a hassle, I’m officially moving @stray-doqs (you are here), @shinotcnshi, @deathshrieks, and @shincshisha over to my multi, @eiiennii! This will leave me with just that blog and @invisiquirk, and will make the whole writing thing a bit easier for me to manage. Less blogs to track makes the whole thing easier to handle.

Nope! Having only one eye leaves you without stuff like depth perception and struggles with hand-eye coordination. So artsy stuff isn’t really my thing. Though I wasn’t really artsy before the little incident either, so nothing was really ruined.

Listen, BNHA Dazai taking Shion on as an intern will always be one of my favorite things ever and they will absolutely be a PROPER mentor for them for a change! Even in Shion’s BSD verse, I could see Dazai being a sort of mentor to them, though probably to a lesser extent and probably a little less caring. Though they’re safe from Dazai’s full wrath in that verse because of both Chuuya and Tooru, thank the lord.

Kunikida doesn’t deserve this silent treatment. Nobody in the Agency does ( and Dazai has certainly imposed it on every last one of them ) but ESPECIALLY not Kunikida. They’re supposed to be PARTNERS after all, and in more ways than one-- so shouldn’t they be open with each other? But Dazai is a creature of habit, so when a long-overdue breakdown finally occurs ( induced by a combination of alcohol and a poorly-timed question about whose grave they’re often found visiting ), they resort to their habit of shutting down and withdrawing, just like they used to do when Chuuya would pry too much.

Fortunately, the violent anger that used to follow Chuuya’s prying doesn’t follow Kunikida’s, but the shut down lasts longer than before in return. It’s their third day out of work when he finally texts them, and Dazai’s honestly surprised that it’s not another one of his rants about how irresponsible it is for them to be missing so much work. Though maybe it’s just a polite request for them to finally respond rather than a desperate plea to hear something from them.

With a heavy sigh, though, Dazai finally finds it in them to break this silence they’ve fallen into. Sort of. It’s only through texts, but to them, it still counts.

[SMS: 💗Kunikida-kun💗]: Okay. I’m answering you.

[SMS: 💗Kunikida-kun💗]: But what am I answering? I already told you who it was.

[SMS: 💗Kunikida-kun💗]: Or if it’s about missing work, it’s like I told everyone else. I’m just sick.

[SMS: 💗Kunikida-kun💗]: I think I’ll be back tomorrow.

A pause, then they send one final message.

[SMS: 💗Kunikida-kun💗]: I’m sorry. I love you. See you tomorrow.

These late-night messages seem to be growing more and more frequent as of late. On top of that, they seem to grow more nostalgic, more DESPERATE to return to older, BETTER times. Not that Fukuzawa and truly blame him-- stress has been HIGH lately, more so than normal, and he can’t imagine that it’s been too different for the leader of the Port Mafia, a much larger and more chaotic organization than the Agency. But just what is he to do? There isn’t much than he CAN do, not when both of them are already so far down their respective paths.

Ah, but he’d be lying if he said he didn’t feel the same. Just like Mori, Fukuzawa has been thinking back to the past, when things were easier, when he could have the love of his life in his arms, even if in secret. Nowadays, they only ever see each other when they’re trying to KILL each other, a fact that he laments on the daily.

There’s nothing to be done, though. Fukuzawa must carry on, push forward to lead his people. There is no time to be stuck in the past, and as much as it hurts to admit, there is no future where they can be together again.

Won’t stop him from admitting the truth of his feelings, though, especially in private like this.

What kind of question is that? Doesn’t he realize that Akutagawa thinks of them, their relationship, on the daily at this point? That he thinks about it so much it leaves him ACHING with both a want and a NEED for his presence? Then again, maybe that’s his own fault. He’s never been good at being OPEN or HONEST-- just look at the one who taught him and molded him for so many years. So voicing this kind of thing to Atsushi? It’s downright terrifying.

But the rabid dog is supposed to fear nothing. So he shoots back a simple message, in the few moments he has away from Higuchi, and it’s so plain and simple but so very honest, more than he’d like but everything that Atsushi may need to hear. And for now, he’ll do his best to avoid thinking about how weak he still think it makes him, to be thinking so much about the other’s wellbeing.

He has a way of pulling their strings, the ones the Dazai so often pretends not to have. They used to have a problem with this, of course, even if Chuuya himself wasn’t aware that he had such power over them, such CONTROL and OWNERSHIP of their heart. Does he know yet? He must-- they’re positive he wouldn’t be doing this if he didn’t know.

But they can’t be mad. They miss him just as badly, and even now when they’ve only JUST gotten this new job within the Armed Detective Agency, they consider running back to him. Fortunately for all parties, that remains nothing more than a consideration. As much as they miss having him in their arms without worry, their promise to Odasaku remains the more important task. Besides, both had agreed just a couple weeks ago that they could maintain their rekindled relationship in secret, and they’re content with that. But by GOD do they miss him too.

Maybe they can fix that for a little bit. Maybe a nice dinner at home? Something home-cooked? A whole night together to help ease that feeling for both of them. Wouldn’t that be nice?

That wasn’t the question, but he doesn’t particularly care. The idea of his every movement being tracked still greatly bothers him, even if he does trust and respect Chuuya more than the other executives. Still, he can’t bring himself to answer the question, not truthfully. He doesn’t want the other coming after him, though, so Akutagawa does try his best to reassure him that it wouldn’t be necessary.

[SMS: Nakahara-san]: I’m fine. It doesn’t matter where I am if I’m not in danger, right? Besides, I’ll be back soon.

Not that there would likely be a need to, not when he’s just visiting his old stomping grounds in the slums. More specifically, where the Akutagawa siblings’ childhood friends were so mercilessly slaughtered by the Port Mafia.

Nostalgia is such an odd sensation in his chest, but he’ll be damned if he’s going to open up about it to ANYONE.

They know that THEY are the ones who gave her that impression, what with the way they suddenly closed themselves off and avoided her after a few months of... well, whatever their relationship had been. Dazai’s sure that it been purely a friends with benefits kind of thing, nothing more than a fling, though maybe they had given her the impression that it was more? Perhaps having more than a few drunken breakdowns, full to the brim with truths they’d have told no one else, led her to believe that they were more than that. Of course, they blame themselves entirely for that, and so they continued to keep that distance as some sort of punishment for themselves. And yet there’s a certain loneliness without her, because above all else, she was a FRIEND-- perhaps the only one they had left, even if they would not admit it.

So this distance just wouldn’t do, then.
