“Why is there a deer in the room?” for Linny please 🥺💕
“Why is there a deer in the room?” Ginny asks calmly; perhaps, if she were dating anyone else, she’d be freaking out, but dating Luna, this is hardly the weirdest scene Ginny has come home to.
“Oh, that’s Harry,” Luna says, from where she’s sitting on the couch; she has her feet up in the settee, mismatched socks - one with pistachios and one with little yellow frogs - and blue-painted knees on display. The stag’s - or Harry’s, Ginny supposes - head is resting on her thighs, calmly staying still while Luna somehow knits around his antlers.
“Right,” Ginny says, because of course it is. “What’s happened, then?”
“Draco told him he loved him,” Luna says, despite the very sour look the stag throws her way. “He freaked out. Changed to his animagus form.”
“And now he can’t change back?” Ginny asks knowingly.
“And now he can’t change back,” Luna agrees.
The stag huffs.
“How did you get him through the door?” Ginny asks, smile already overtaking her face, and the stag huffs again while Luna smiles calmly.
“Hermione brought him here, and she took a video of it,” she says. “You’ll love it.”
Ginny laughs, and Harry huffs for a third time.
“How many people know?” she asks, walking over and kissing her girlfriend chastely before sitting beside her on the couch and taking off her quidditch boots before putting her feet up next to hers.
She gets back from practice exhausted, aching, muddy, sweaty, and in desperate need for a shower, which is why she really doesn’t need one of her best friends stuck in his animagus form in her living room.
She does, however, need a good laugh, and Harry’s more than providing it, so she won’t kick him out just yet.
“I know Hermione brought him here because she had to go to work and didn’t trust him not to break her things with his antlers,” Luna says. “So she knows, Ron knows.” If Ron knows, their entire family does, too, by now. Ginny must have a floo call in her near future so he can tell her, too. “Draco knows, because Harry transformed right in front of him.” Ginny bursts out laughing, and Harry gives her as angry a look as he can in his current state, transformed into a stag and with sleeves knit around his antlers. “So Pansy and Blaise probably do, too.”
“Oh,” Ginny wheezes between peals of laughter. “Oh, everyone is going to know! Wait, wait, how long has it been?”
“Two days.”
“Two days?” Ginny’s laughing so hard her stomach hurts, and she tries to stop, but she can’t, she really can’t. “Oh my god. Harry, why haven’t you gone to St. Mungo’s?”
Harry-the-stag gives her a look.
“Oh my gods,” Ginny says, realization dawning. “Draco’s the only one who can help, isn’t he? He’s the one who deals with these things?”
Harry’s bitter look is enough for her to burst out laughing again, and she actually rolls off the couch when she curls into herself because her sides hurt from how hard she’s laughing.
Harry kicks her with his hoof, but she can only laugh harder, because he has a hoof because his boyfriend told him he loves him for the first time and now he’ll have to go to said boyfriend to fix this! Ginny can die a happy woman after this, honestly.
After her laughing calms down slightly, she’s left giggling hysterically on the floor, hands covering her face as Luna continues to knit and Harry stays reluctantly still while glaring at her.
“Oh my god,” she says, when she can finally speak again. “Merlin, this is too good. I love this. I love this. I’ll call Draco.”
Harry immediately turns to her, evidently panicked, and she rolls her eyes.
“Harry, it’s been two days,” she says. “You’re supposed to go to Mungo’s if you’re unable to change back for more than two hours.”
Harry makes a - noise, and honestly, Ginny didn’t even know stags made any noise - and she shakes her head, already walking to the floo happily.
She’ll try not to laugh too much over the floo, but she doesn’t think she’ll be able to get through it without a little humor.
