The biggest eye roll known to John Constantine was flashed in his direction and a large grin pulled at her lips, remaining in place until her manager was long gone. She knew the bare minimum about Zatanna and she wished to keep it that way. John, on the other hand, knew too much. “You could have had me fooled. How long has it been?” She turned to walk towards her dressing room and the door closed behind them.

“The review made you realize you missed me? Jesus, John…” She sighed and plopped herself on her couch, crossing one leg over the other as her gaze and realization settled on her old friend. It had been too long and while she missed their banter, she also wanted to wring his neck for not staying in contact. “…I should start off by saying I mi—“She cut herself off when he mentioned her manager and sighed. “..and then there’s that.”

Of all the hearts that he had broken, John regretted breaking hers the most. He leaned his back against the closed door and pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his trench pocket. He chuckled when he saw the annoyed look on her face. Had he asked about the manager just to tease Zee? Yes, he most definitely had, and John wasn’t ashamed to admit it. “Don’t worry, I don’t think your lovely manager fancies me. Well, yet.” He said in an amused tone, shrugging his shoulders again. 

John’s gaze shifted away from her for a brief moment. “Actually, I’m here because I need your help.” He spoke honestly, holding an unlit cigarette. “Unless you have guests over, could I stay at the House of Mystery for a few days? Because, well, let’s just say that the person who I was supposed to stay with isn’t with us anymore. May his poor soul find a way out of Hell soon.”

With a heavy sigh, John ran his hand through his hair as sat down on a park bench. Thanks to a new, unexpectedly difficult case, the occult detective hadn’t slept well in two days, and he was well aware of how shitty tired he looked. An amused grin spread across his face when he realized who was standing nearby. He cleared his throat to get her attention and raised a teasing eyebrow. “Do you come here often, love?”

“Thank you for coming!” She waved and exited the stage, taking the flowers her manager kept handing her. She pulled her phone out immediately to make sure she hadn’t missed anything too important and was too focused on an article to truly take in what her manager had to say. 

“His name is John something. Says he’s a fan…”

“Huh?” Zee looked up and eyes widened when her gaze fell on John, grip strengthening around the bouquets in her hand. “What are you doing here?” She whispered and handed all the flowers back to her manager, telling the other to leave her and her company. Was it really him? Was it a clone? Was this some hoax? She had so many questions but had no ability to verbalize them so she stood in front of her old friend, hands on her hips and shook her head.

“Is it really you?”

“Well, you know that I’ve always been your biggest fan, love.” Flashing a playful grin at his ex, John dodged her questions and cast a quick glance at the bouquets in her hand. He had not brought Zee flowers - nor had he bought a ticket for her show. Instead, he had simply hypnotized his way inside the building. The surprised look on Zatanna’s face told him that she had not noticed. (Somehow, he had a feeling that she was going to kick him out once she found out.)

“You see, I stumbled across a raving review about your new show which made me realize how much I miss you, Zee. Also, I may or may not have promised sell my soul to a local demon in exchange for a powerful ancient magical artifact.” The occult detective half-lied nonchalantly and shrugged his shoulders, hands in the pockets of his trench. “By the way, is your manager single?”

Short intro because why not I guess 

Hi there friends! I’m Rosie and excited to bring you my favourite hot mess slash antihero John Constantine! He is going to be mainly inspired by the new 52/rebirth dc comic canon but I’m also going to keep as some parts from dceu/dctv canon from the Legends of Tomorrow)!

Long story short, John Constantine is The Worst. Seriously, you have no idea.

He is a British semi-decent occult detective, a skilled magician (hated by both other magicians and the demon community) and a great con-artist who has like one friend. I’m not joking.

Not to mention a bi icon. 

He became interested in magic as a young boy... and later unknowingly proceeded to use a powerful spell which required a sacrifice because, sadly, all magic has a price. Thanks to the said spell, John’s childhood home was suddenly set on fire and he lost his entire family.

Despite the tragic loss of his family, John continued to study magic in both Europe and America. Also, he was in a punk band with his wizard friends. (Yes, he was.)

He actually prefers to talk his way out of tricky situations instead of using magic. 

John always ends up alone because he has the worst luck (aka the people who get too close to him usually end up either being dragged into Hell) and that’s why he acts like an arrogant jerk 99% of the time. 

His hobbies include chain-smoking, drinking too much, being a walking talking mess, performing an occasional exorcism, making fun of superheroes (despite working with them, ha!)  and letting people down.
