The Art of illustration so preeminent from the early 19th century to the late 1970′s has sadly faded away since the “powers that be” (publishers, movie producers, Art directors…) prefer digital artwork to the marvelous painted artowrk to boost the marketing of books,movies, etc.
Long gone are the heydays when Robert McGinnis, Frank McCarthy, Bob Peak and other giants of the craft created images and visuals that were used on movie posters, book covers and ad pages, instantly enhancing their appeal.
However all is not lost as few Artists carry the torch of illustrative art and should be celebrated for this
PAUL MANN is a fabulous adman and detailed painter (and absolute gentleman) who has perfected his craft for over 40 years and has now gained wider recognition. About time and well deserved
We open this 20 part tribute to the superlative illustrative Art of Mann with the series that propelled him to the top of the Illustrative Art world since 2018.
Indeed in 2018, he re-imagined the Bond series with so far 4 fantastic limited edition prints proving that not only the Bond visuals are still awe inspiring but that the illustrated Art of the movie poster is still alive and well (click on each image for details).
