Christmas hasn’t been the same since Mamaw spent her last one with us four years ago, but one way I have honored her since (with the exception of the first year, when my family took a beach trip) is to bake cookies at midnight on Christmas. Mamaw always kept a house full of sweets and delicious food at Christmas. It’s not much, but it’s a lot to me. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to ALL! Four states, three countries, countless cafes, libraries and bookstores...74,761 words. It’s not over. I still have a LOT of work ahead of me to get this in shape. But for the first time in a LONG time, I have finished a full first draft of a novel. And for the first time EVER, I have poured my whole heart out onto the page, and I have written the book of my soul. I am SO excited for people to read it someday. It hasn’t really sunk in that I’ve accomplished anything right now, because I’m on a caffeine high, and I had a great day working with @j.warren.welch on something amazing. But y’all, I do not underestimate that this is a big deal for me, and I am so appreciative to EVERYONE who has cheered me on for this journey.
