Chris chuckled once and looked down into his glass. He had yet to touch the alcohol in it. “Everyone makes mistakes,” he said at last. “But very few of us get chances to make them right. Don’t think of it as answering for what you think you did wrong. If the guilt is eating you up that much, you owe it to yourself to take that chance and make things right.”
“Peter seems to think otherwise” He said shrugged “I mean its not like I didn’t keep up on any changes in his condition when he was in the coma” he said shrugging. “I mean would you have done what I did?”
"I left my family, yes." And that was true. "But I also came back. Of course, my father didn't care for me in the way that the Hale family cares for each other." In fact, Chris had always found himself jealous of the sort of bond that Peter's family had. Even when they were kids, he wondered how a family like that operated. All Chris knew was cold distance. "Of course, in my case, coming back was a mistake." And a blessing in disguise, he'd have to admit. If it weren't for his willingness to take up the family occupation, he'd have no way to protect his family. Whether he wanted to admit it or not, he was an Argent. And that was more than enough to make him and his family a top priority on a lot of lists. "Peter gets upset. And it's not a minor thing, I'll admit. He has every right to be hurt. But you have every right to try to patch things up. You shouldn't have to beat yourself up over it; you already know that you were wrong."
