&Honey Melty Moisture Shampoo and its effects on my 4c hair !

So i purchased the &Honey Melty Moist shampoo yesterday, nothing else within the line because although the rest of the line was available to me in Teso Life in person, i just wanted to test the shampoo (I also have just moved and my usual shampoo got left at my old house)

i didn’t really expect much, Im african american using asian hair care. And our hair types couldn’t be any more different. You can skirt around skincare, but hair? I honestly just was expecting to have another pretty soap sitting in my bathroom.

Things to note:

I am black, I have thick, curly, *verrrry* dry 4c hair. Like comb breaking kind of thick, so to make my hair manageable, I need it to be easily detangled and fully moisturized , more than the average japanese hair care user anyways. My wash days are twice a week if it isn’t straightened and if it is, every week/every two weeks or longer (for black hair this is normal. Our hair is often dehydrated so washing it daily will cause so many issues)

I got home and simply washed my hair as normal, I usually need to use multiple pumps of even my specially formulated curly haired shampoos and products to get an even coating. I part my hair into two sections on either side of my shoulders almost like pigtails. That’s a LOT of surface area for thicker hair, i only needed ONE PUMP PER SIDE! It lathered so well without having to use much of the product! Although I *did* do a second wash just because i was enjoying using the shampoo so much, silly i know, but completely un needed. With thick hair, the shower is usually the best to detangle and brush your hair because without moisture, dry brushing 4C hair can make it break off, completely opposite to my straight haired friends apparently. What was usually a 25 minute process turned to merely 10, I was astounded. Finished washing my body, fully rinsed out the shampoo and got out the shower. Now last night, I was extremely tired from work and had forgotten to grab a towel for my hair, so I was forced to let my hair air dry.

Any type of hair drying even with creams and oils applied would leave my hair super dry and feeling stripped no matter what. But this shampoo left my hair feeling like I just left the salon, not including my ends because those are split and need to be cut. There’s no saving split ends, you WILL need to cut them (As I’m reluctantly doing tomorrow…) Anyways, the way it left my hair super soft?? With my curls defined and smoothened! Can you tell i’m still shocked?. Lololol!

This last part is why i’m even writing this, I decided to straighten my hair so i could wear it cute to work the next day. Please note the following: I live in a humid environment, already frizzy hair + straightening + humidity is a triple negative. Anytime i straighten my hair, it still ends up frizzy and dry no matter how much i apply heat or how thin of layers i divide it into to straighten it. I have to use a ton of heat protectant and hair oil to solve this (leaving my hair dry yet greasy, yuck..) I also get texts from my sister asking if im burning anything (i think my last hair products didn’t mix well with heat). Absolutely no heat protectant or oil, regular heat settings.

Not only did it make detangling my hair DRY easier, it eliminated my hair burning resulting in NO SCENT AT ALL, and it took way quicker to straighten 4c curls with minimized amounts of frizz! Since life hates me, it rained today so i can’t show the fruits of my labor but know it did super well. I want to know if anyone has had this experience with my similar hair background.

I’ve done research on the brand and think i’m going to continue using this and implement this as part of my main hair care rotation. Obviously with a clarifying shampoo so i can give my scalp a break every once in a while. I’ll be looking to purchase the full set the next couple paychecks. The japanese and asian beauty system in general is very intriguing, rewarded for using it and using a refill system where u can buy slightly cheaper refills and not throw out an entire bottle for another.

Extra:

I hear people complain about this line the most and i wanted to say something. This line is for people with severely dry hair, the other hair lines would work better than this one for you. If it’s leaving your hair greasy your hair probably doesn’t need it. I’m having no issue because my hair basically felt like straw 24/7 even when attempting to hydrate. If you’re trying this brand I will say clarify or detox your hair first so you can see what it *actually* does for you instead of it sitting on top of whatever you used last. I “clarified” my hair w Dr Bronners (like i said, i just moved so i only had that left pls don’t judge). Yesstyle and other places have samples and trial sets of this brand so u can test before fully committing. I’ve seen way too many people bulk buy a product they end up not using or not liking. This brand is somewhat expensive so please use caution in that end.

to anyone who read dork diaries growing up and journals, do y’all think it affects the way y’all write? For example, Nikki being an artist is an explicit part of her character. And while i’m not the best (definitely not to Nikki’s canon level of artistic expression at a mere 14!! Whaaaat!), I found myself adapting my style to a mix of like the pinterest style journaling mixed with Nikki’s “Insert a doodle to better explain my turmoil” lol. Just wondering if anyone else unintentionally adopted this journaling style. It’s a lot easier to melt into on digital too since cleaning up mistakes is a lot simpler.

I posted about how I hilariously have only watched 4 eps of jjk even tho I’m a permanent resident in the choso and toji x reader tags (sorry to all the authors who have had to hear me talk about it ) and one of my close friends literally cyber harassed me into watching it.

Watching Tomo Chan is a Girl since my friends letting me use her Crunchyroll and oh the concept that is the banter between Jun and Tomo. They are so cute, that is EXACTLY my type of banter.

Just clocked the fact that they made Juno and Mei familiar with each other. From what I’ve heard (and I’m not Asian) calling people Auntie is usually not just a familial thing.
