10 Rules to Observe With Your Denim Jeans
Do you want to look casual, yet appear great in your dressing? Denim jeans can help you look real good even as you try not to be completely formal. All jeans are not exactly the same, and the rules for different shapes, sizes, colors and designs are slightly different.
Before you slip into your pair of denim jeans, be sure you understand exactly what you should do. You don’t want to dress up for an occasion and then eventually find out you are the only odd man there. Do you? Your answer is an emphatic “NO”, I am sure.
In this post, I am going to talk about the 10 rules to observe with your denim jeans, having at the back of my mind that this is not a mistimed posting. A lot of people end up being embarrassed in parties because they just discover they have dressed the opposite way from what others are doing. So, let’s quickly take a look at some of the ‘Dos” and the “Don’ts” to observe with your denim jeans.
DON’T:
Tuck and Run You have to make a decision whether or not you are going to be tucking your shirts in. If you plan to do so, leave the shirt long. There is no need trying to force a short shirt into your jean trouser. It would at some point pull out as you try to run. If you don’t plan to tuck in, take your shirt to the tailor to have it adjusted. You don’t want to make your shirt look oversized or ridiculously long. Do you?
DON’T:
Over launder your jean Sometimes you are tempted to be a clean freak by over washing your jean and in the process, make it to whisker and fade. Fading causes your jean to lose its quality and respect. Also, avoid using dryers on your jeans after washing them. You should rather turn them inside out and leave them in the air to dry.
DON’T:
play with color if you are a novice Stay away from color-mixing if you do not know what to do. Get advice from friends who have been doing this with good result. A good place to start can be to pair different denim shades together. You can add black jean and a sand color jacket, black jean and a white shirt, or white jean and a blue denim jacket.
DON’T:
Leg Out Your work jean cuff should be able to cover your shoe top. It shouldn’t be showing your striped socks or any other socks for that matter before you take a seat. To take care of this, you can adopt any of the three cuffs below The Single cuff: It makes you smart and sporty. You should only fold up the bottom 1½ inches and let it maintain some creases. The Double cuff: This should be folded up 1 inch and then apply an extra roll. If you are going casual, take the cuff a little higher. The Messy Triple cuff: If you want to go leisurely, roll a half-inch cuff, double it twice over. Allow it to remain creased.
DON’T:
Wear denim accessories I am sure you wouldn’t like to dress up like a “denim mascot” by putting on denim from head to toe. If you are already going with a denim jean, avoid other accessories like denim hat, denim shoes, handbag, etc.
What are the “Dos” for denim jeans?
Having seen some of the “don’ts” of denim jeans, it’s time to consider the “Dos” also. So, what are the things that should get our nod?
DO:
Use denim shades More attention is drawn to your body parts if you use lighter shades of denim to cover them. But dark washes make you look slimmer in appearance. To look smarter and slimmer, combine dark denim jean with a light jacket or denim top.
DO:
Give it a spin Allow your jeans to go through a cycle of washes before altering them. They will eventually shrink a little bit because they are made of cotton. Altering them too early could make them shrink beyond the level you expected.
DO:
Change shades Don’t stick to a particular color even if you are not comfortable with it. Be bold to experiment with shades of colors. If white appears too bold, try other colors like ash or sand. It is easier to maintain them.
DO:
Dress up your double denim You can look cuter by adding other forms of accessories to your denim jeans. Try adding tuxedo blazer, fashion heels, bright red lip, sports caps, or fine-quality, striped socks, light sneaker canvas to fit and make you sexier.
DO:
Rip your jeans Ripping your denim jeans or adding some distress to them is a way of making them look unique. But you must try and add some decency while doing this. Never let the ripping turn you into a lunatic of a sort. Be careful also not to let the ripped areas expose your underpants unduly.
Conclusion
Denim jeans still remain highly-admired attire that you should be proud to wear any day, anywhere. Remember these rules when about to pick your denim next time and then do the best you can to look real smart, cute and sexy in them.
