Edwin, it's to early to propose to Lilli đ
âItâs not! I-I just got her a pair of earrings! Iâm not that insane.â
It's that time of the year again, and what kind of girlfriend would Lilli be if she didn't gifted him something? So the mage slides up to Edwin, and shoves a very obviously christmas themed wrapped box into his hands. " Heyyy~ ... Uhm... Merry Christmas, Edwin! " She speaks, and smiles rather shyly at the vampire as she waits for him to opent he box.
Inside the box was a very cute bat-plushy, and some cute bat-slippers. She had seen these somewhere and thought of the vampire. For obvious reasons. Lilli knows these were not really the most useful gifts, but hoped he likes them anyway. " I zhought you might like a cuddle buddy in case I am not available~ " And now she is just trying to fluster him a bit.
The vampire didnât expect much to happen on Christmas Eve. Reed had travelled to go see their family and while Edwin wanted to do the same, itâs a bit difficult to explain why your son isnât waking up come Christmas Day. So instead, he was at home.
When he heard the doorbell ring, Edwin assumed it was some late night delivery and he was half right. He didnât expect Lilli nor the box sheâd brought with her. The kindred was surprised and by god he loved it.
âThank you, Lilli! I love all of these! I⌠I did get you a gift as well though not quite as cuddly as these, hahaâ Edwin set the box down and definitely was giving the plush a good squeeze. That was before he hugged Lilli instead.
When he pulled away, Edwin reached into his pocket to pull out a small jewelry box. He handed it to her, a sheepish smile on his face.
just-a-lonley-lighthousekeeperâ:
Gus was on the phone, he had a pipe in his other hand you could smell the smoke.
It didnât smell like normal nicotine smoke something about it was different.
Gus: âhello! Is this the stornoway police office? ah good you can hear me Iâm one of the lighthouse keepers at the eilean mor lighthouse I tried calling yesterday haha yes THE flannan Isles lighthouseâŚyesyes my name is Gus Iâd like to report someone in need of rescue
âŚWe found a young lad on the rocks heâs safe now but he may need to be taken to a hospital ..an American fellow, is there maybe a sea police that could come and get him?
You could hear a man on the other end
Unnamed police officer: "well due to the storm sir we may have to come get him tomorrow, have you noticed any injuries on the man that may warrant immediate attention?â
Gus:âNonoâŚwellâŚ. he stopped breathing earlier no pulse we thought he was dead, but heâs awake now walking and talking but Iâm not a doctor I think he might have hit his head or something I didnât notice any bruises but he canât remember what happened to him Iâm worried about himâ
Unnamed police officer: âright we will send a officer to come get him tomorrow morning can you watch him until then?â
Gus: âthatâs perfect I can do that thank youâ
Gus notices Edwin as he comes out the bathroom he hangs up on the phone and looks at him
âgood news, son the police can come get you tomorrow morning, then they can take you to a hospital and get you home!â He smiled
Gus removes a jacket from a big arm chair next to the fire and takes it over to the coat hangers
Gus: âplease take a seat make yourself comfortableâ
Gus wanders into the kitchen and you hear him putting the kettle on
He yells
Gus: âSo Edwin where are you from?â He asks
Edwin would halt a little ways away simply to listen to what was being said over the phone. His brow would wrinkle in concern at the mention of being brought home in the morning. Due to his own affliction of being a kindred, it wasnât in his power to be able to go out in the daylight even if he wanted to. Of course he couldnât say such a thing to these people. It would break the masquerade even if he wasnât technically in the territory of any actual vampire city.
After the conversation ended, however, heâd finally enter the room. The warm demeanor of the other took him by surprise. It was still strange to encounter any real kindness from people for him so he did his best to put on a soft smile. At the suggestion of sitting down, Edwin glanced around before taking a seat in one of the chairs nearby.
âUhm⌠Iâm from Chicago, initially. But moved to New York City after a while. Havenât had much chance to travel outside of the states, honestly.â Edwin explained, fiddling with his fingers.

just-a-lonley-lighthousekeeperâ:
The lighthouse bathroom was very small and a bit claustrophobic more so than the living room, you couldnât fit more than one person inside, however it was nice and warm, you could hear a soft hum coming from the ventilation in the room.
There was a bar of soap on the sink which was in the shape of a shell đ it was a milky soap, there was also some mens shampoo you could use.
You could hear the others talking in other part of the building outside the bathroom.
Gus: âheâs a miracle.. itâs not everyday you see someone come back.. like thatâŚis it?â
Vinnie: âsomething about this doesnât feel right.. something feels eerieâ
Gus: âlook Iâm just grateful the boy is okay, itâs a good thing too, I found it very hard to sleep last night itâs effected my workâŚâ
Jackie:âhe didnât have a pulse earlier how is he alive especially out there in the cold icy waters, was he just swimming about like a FISH!? Haha at this time of year? Thatâs fucking normalâ she laughed
Vinnie: âs..sheâs right..â
Gus: âmaybe he was just out on one of those big cruise ships with his American pals a..and blacked out drunk and fell in or somethingâ
Vinnie: â we are too far outâŚ
you knowâŚwhen I found him all curled up on the rocks like thatâŚfirst thing I thought.. was that he might have killed himself..â
Gus: âOoh godâŚenough!â
Vinnie: âwhat kind of man goes out swimming in a nice suit like that? And sheâs right itâs freezing at this time of yearâ He mumbled
Gus:ââŚ. Enough! Look he probably just had too much to drinkâŚ.. I should probably cross out that part about him in the journal of him being dead, since heâs..not,
weâll try giving them er..people a call again today so someone can come pick him up and get him to a hospital
Well anyway Iâll handle itâŚ.everyone back to your posts please Iâll watch over the lad, and give those people a call, Jackie you can go back to your bed if you like we will still need you tonight. â
Footsteps could be heard echoing further and further away.
It took a bit of doing but Edwin managed to peel the ice cold clothes off after a while. If the water was cold or warm was of no real concern at this point.
Through the water, he could hear their conversation. His ears were pricked and at attention. The way they spoke told him just about all he needed to know, as well. Theyâd clearly found his body asleep upon the shores of⌠wherever they said this was. A bigger question that itches at his mind was: âHow did I not burn in the sun?â
As he dried off, Edwin tried his best to recall what had happened before being supposedly washed away. He was in his office, doing work as per usual the previous night. He went home, went to sleep in his room and⌠now he was here. Reed mustâve seen Somethingâ
A pause.
The kindred frantically searched the pockets of his pants and found his phone. It was waterlogged. He groaned in frustration. He couldnât even contact anyone he knew. How was he to get back to New York? How was he supposed to get back home to his friends? Questions that he just couldnât stomach kept bubbling up and it threatened to make him ill.
Getting dressed in warmer clothes, Edwin stared at himself in the mirror. His hair wasnât slicked back but instead fluffy like it was naturally. But of course, the streak in his hair remained. He could slick it back with water but it wouldnât hold for long like the product he used at home. It didnât matter. It was hardly as if these strangers would judge him for not appearing like the head honcho he was.
Turning around, he left the restroom, now more comfortable that he wasnât in salt drenched clothes.
Okay, so do vampires drink from arteries or veins or both? Asking for a friend.

just-a-lonley-lighthousekeeperâ:
âNot at all!â the older man answered
âwe couldnât just leave you out there on the rocks, Edwin. â
The older man gave Edwin a soft pat on the shoulder and gave him a sincere smile, not too long after Vinnie came back with some dark coloured clothing, Gus took the clothes and handed them to Edwin,
he then tried guiding Edwin ushering him towards the bathroom, he put his hand behind Edwinâs back for support.
âhere you are, son a nice pair of warm clothes you can use these after you pop into the shower and warm up a bit weâll keep the fire on for you for when you come outâ
He said softly.
âjust yell if you need anythingâ
Honestly, hospitality wasnât something he expected from most. Edwin came from big cities where humans listened to him because of his wealth and vampires pushed him about because of his age. Percy was an exception to that rule, of course. Either way, this was an oddly welcome change. It did, however, still have him on edge. If these people found him while he was âsleepingâ then that was why they thought him to be dead. That was already a risk in itself, he knew. âR-Right. Thank you. Really.â He was softspoken and happily took the clothes. A shower would be nice even after being washed about in the ocean. It would give him time to at least think on all of this.Â
After thanking the old lad, he gave a nod and stepped into the bathroom to shower. He just needed to think. It was so much happening all at once.Â
just-a-lonley-lighthousekeeperâ:
She walked over to the unlit fireplace and nealed next to it and started fidgeting with the buttons on it, it suddenly lit, which helped light the room up quite a bit
She turned towards him
âWell Iâm Jackie itâs nice to meet youâ
She turned towards the window as if she just realized something
"you know.. I should probably let the others know your awake, Iâll just be a secondâ
She pointed over at the window slightly
she lifted herself up and swiftly walked past him and opened the front door, you could see the outside for a second and the cold gust of wind that blew in after,
She was right you where in the middle of no where, on one of the Scottish isles in fact you caught a glance of the ocean, she slammed the door shut and you could hear her yell at someone
voices could be heard from the outside that where more further away they sounded deep and Celtic assumable male
Footsteps were then heard as the door opened once more two men emerged both were in uniform one with a long grey beard and the other was a tall ginger lanky fellow
there tones were a lot different from the womanâs they seemed rather franticďżź, not to mention you felt the overall vibe shift once they appeared, was it just you? Could be due to the fact you now know for sure your trapped in the middle on no where?
âJesus, son we thought you were DED!â the older man with the long beard said as he walked up to Edwin slowly, and pressed his hand on his forehead, both of you felt cold but Edwin was freezing to the touch,
The older man turned to the tall ginger, âVinnie see if we have any spare cloths for this man so he can have a hot shower,â
Vinnie gave an anxious look, and then nodded and went into one of the other rooms, Jackie lingered.
The kindred did give a small jump when the fire flashed to life. If it were still beating, his heart would be racing. Fire. Open flames were never good for his kind. Thankfully, he kept his composure for now.
Edwin watched the other walk off to retrieve⌠someone. Something. They didnât seem right, surely. He couldnât place it but the Beast in the back of his head howled that caution must be taken. They werenât human perhaps. Not anymore anyway.
There was a flinch from the kindred when a hand was put to his forehead. That blush of life not being there made him cold as the grave. That was a good question however; if he was out in the middle of nowhere, how could he feed? Certainly it would suspicious to feed from any of them. That was a horrid option. But he canât starve himself here. Edwin needed to find a way home.
âI-I am grateful for the hospitality. My apologies if I gave you all a scare by any means.â Edwin gave a small nod. âIâm Edwin. Itâs nice to meet you. I donât think Iâve ever been this far from home in a very long time.â
just-a-lonley-lighthousekeeperâ:
Jackieâs raised her eyebrows at him
âyeah I er.. gathered thatâ she smirked
âwhy your at the eilean mor lighthouseâŚin other words your in the Outer Hebrides in the middle of no where..Iâm curious to how you ended up here myself.
She scanned him with her eyes, watching the water drip off him
âone of the others found you swept up on the shoreâ
She walked past him looking back at him as she picked something off one of the chairs
âsay!âŚyou didnât have much of a pulse earlier? are you alright? That uh must have been quite some deep sleepâ she laughed âmaybe you hit your head on one of those rocks out there, and thatâs why you canât remember?â
She offered him a towel.
âyou must be awfully chilly with you know coming out the water and all,
I outta put the fire in for ya before you catch your death for REAL this timeâ she smiled at him
Being out of his element was an understatement. He listened to the other talk and it was honestly starting to push him into a corner. Admitting what he was would breach the masquerade but were such laws even meaningful here? Likely not.
âRight⌠I suppose so. But thank you.â Edwin muttered, accepting the towel. He could feel that he was cold but the sensation didnât actually draw any real reaction from the vampire. âI suppose I mustâve been out on the water with a friend or something.â
It was a lie but he certainly didnât recall how he actually got here. Maybe he did hit his head? Possibly? He didnât know.
âI apologize. My name is Edwin Spears. Whatâs yours?â

A strange environment never sat well with Edwin since he was turned. It drove him insane to be away from the office much less his home!
A spider prefers the nesting of their own web than the foreign terrain outside. A bloodline that ran deep in the kindredâs veins. This was the foreign that Edwin simply couldnât deal with.
When heâs gotten up, he abandoned his suit jacket in an attempt to alleviate the feeling of dampness weighing him down. He definitely didnât carry the dignity a Ventrue should with his hair a mess and his clothes drenched. The vampire was grateful it was evening at least so he wouldnât catch fire as he rushed out of the room.
Of course he froze, seeing a human walking down the hall in this foreign environment. That look she gave him and the way she spoke scared him a good bit, certainly. Edwin adjusted himself, trying to stand up straighter and smooth the mess of his hair.
âI-I apologize. Iâm a bit of a deep sleeper but could you tell me where I am? I donât recall going for any sort of swim in the bay and IâŚâ Edwin stumbled over his words, trying to keep composure. âI think I might be lost.â
Woa Edwin that was smooth đ
"Y-You think so? I dunno if it was exactly smooth but I did my best."
YOU FINALLY SAID IT EDWIN!!! OMG REED HE FINALLY SAID IT!!! Time to celebrate! đ
"K-Kinda was hard! Not exactly used to this!"
schattenmagierâ:
â Eh⌠I guess? I mean I uh⌠I havenât really been in-⌠I mean I havenât really said zhat⌠to someone in a⌠in a vhile. â
If he was shy, she was even worse because Lilliâs face was beet red at this point, and she couldnât even find the courage to look him into the eyes. While she usually does appear very confident, this was different. She hadnât had something like this in a while, and does not know how to⌠approach this. Not exactly at least.
â To be quite honest⌠I knew it already⌠Uh, because your friend told me. Zhe one vho invited me to zhat party? â
Fuck, fuck, fuck. What was his name again? She had met him like ONCE. And that has been some time ago.Â
â And I uh⌠Itâs fine zhat you hadnât told me sooner. I mean I vasnât⌠I vasnât confident enough to tell you either I guessâŚÂ â
The mage mumbled, and her eyes wandered to her hand that was still holding Edwinâs own. He is not the only one who is surprised that she said that aloud. She was very surprised by herself as well. When was the last time she had said that to someone?
â So uhm⌠Does zhat mean ve are like⌠together now? â
Now THAT sounded awkward.
It took Edwin a long moment to think of who she was referring to. His mind was still muddled in a sea of torpor and frankly he was almost startled that it wasnât coming there faster.Â
Percy.
âP...Percy? OH! Ohhhh... yes sadly he canât keep a secret to save his life. Not exactly trying to be a matchmaker but heâs not good at keeping secrets since his grandad left.â Edwin sighed to himself but didnât seem upset by any of it. âBut I mean, he wasnât really wrong so thereâs that. Reed knew as well but they donât say it at least.â
Edwinâs hand hadnât moved until he woven his fingers in hers. Still ice cold but that blush of life didnât make him so clammy. His mind was brought back to the conversation again.Â
âI mean... only if you wish to be, of course. I know thatâs weird considering we just kissed and all but... I... donât want to push you to.â The kindred wanted to say yes so loud but he didnât want to force such a thing.
schattenmagierâ:
She falls silent at his words. Those words. âI love you moreâ. Lilli sure should be less surprised by his confession. His friend had already told her about his crush. And yet⌠It still leaves her dumbfounded for a moment. She hadnât heard these words for⌠a long time. A very long time. So now the mage wasnât even sure how to react in the first moment.
â I⌠I know. â
She mumbled, barely audible, before looking down at her legs for a second. She knows. And Lilli also knows that she loves him too. Of course she does. Her hand then reached for his again, gently taking a hold of it, before her other hand reaches for his face. And as gently, and careful, as possible she turns his face back to her just to press her lips to his own for a moment.
â I- I-⌠Edwin, I⌠I love you tooâŚÂ â
And if he had looked embarrased, than she would look even worse now. Face completely red, and her eyes were looking to the side, just to find his eyes again repeatedly. And then she chuckled. Just lightly though.
â A- ⌠A little bit perhaps. But⌠I sounded a bit awkward too, eh? Heh. â
Edwin couldâve swore that the first time in perhaps five years now, he felt his heart skip a beat. Of course not but the sensation was there all the same.Â
Love and emotion werenât often felt anymore but this time came as an exception. Of course, that more primal part of him wanted to Embrace Lilli but he wouldnât. A terrible and dangerous idea.
âI think weâre both allowed to sound awkward, yknow?â Edwin cocked his head to the side, shyer than ever but also brimming with something like confidence. âI... probably shouldâve said it before but I just... couldnât work up the courage.â He was very surprised that she felt the same and even spoke it aloud!Â
A lot of surprises today for this goof.

schattenmagierâ:
â Of course! Everything for my favorite vampire~! â
The mage spoke in her more playful manner again, and smirked lightly before she also gave him a wink.
â But if you really need it, you can ask me anytime! â
He took her offer much better than she had expected. Edwin had told her before that he doesnât really like the whole feeding thing after all. She did notice his body language. And⌠while Lilli was still unsure about it, she knew from Percy that Edwin⌠might feel more for her. She does feel the same⌠Of course she does. But telling him was hard⌠not until she was absolutely sure he felt the same. Not just from his friend.
â Vell, you are alive, and apparently are doing good so I zhink you are very persistent too! â
Lilli then slides a bit closer to the vampire, and her smile disappeared when he told her about his dead Sire. She isnât sure what kind of relationship they had⌠after they broke upâŚÂ Â
â Oh, I see⌠Iâm sorry. â
She wasnât sure if he was sad, but she felt like she should say something like that.
Edwin gave a sigh before looking back to Lilli with a small smile. Maragret wasnât kind. Spiteful and manipulative. Plus, Edwin was happier here. Happier with Lilli.
âI wouldnât worry about it. As much as I loved her I...â Oh just spit it out. âI...I love you more.â Edwin immediately turned his gaze away and certainly looked embarrassed the words even left his lips.Â
Realistically, the kindred had nothing to really worry about. Especially concerning the fact that he should know by now how she would react. Of course, he couldnât be sure.Â
âI-I apologize, that sounded really awkward, huh?âÂ
Is Edwin finally admiting his love??? Btw why do I imagine Reed AND Percy to just like. Hide somewhere and wait for him to finally say it? đ
Reed is certainly hiding nearby! Definitely ready to text Percy about it! huehuehueue
