the tragic thing about ctommy is if it weren't for the everything he truly would have been fine. if it weren't for the wars and trauma and betrayal he would literally be like. minecraft's equivalent of a normal person. his shit was not chemical, it was environmental through and through, and now he will never be that happy bubbly annoying kind of mean kid who literally just liked playing and having fun and MONEYYYY. he's scared and sad and there is a world where he wasn't and he can never go back bc these things HAPPENED these things CHANGED HIM. wilbur's shock at tommy trying to kill himself is not just a man who does not see the hurt in his brother, who does not see the possibility of pain, but because there was a point in time where that genuinely never would have been an option for tommy. he would die for his country, he would die for his brother, but he would never die because of how bad he hurts. and then he wants to. makes a man want to weep.

like i know how we talk about how wilbur is so fucking real for the blackout beating the shit out of dream fantasy but it's genuinely like. can you imagine getting that information? that your brother, literally the epitome of WE'RE GONNA GET THROUGH THIS!! EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY!! THINGS ARE SHIT BUT AT LEAST WE HAHE THE PEOPLE WE LOVE!! and these things used to piss you off, these things used to make you want to hurt him just enough so he could finally get a fucking glimpse of what you feel but you never COULD he never hated you he never GAVE UP. except he did. this annoying asshole who you love more than anything, who could never conceive of killing himself outside of defending the things he loves no matter the cost, he looked at his life, he looked at the world and what it was doing to him, and he almost jumped ofd that fucking tower. because of ONE MAN. one awful fucking man. like just thinking about that man. i would never be okay again because like. in a way wilbur got what he wanted yknow like tommy FELT that hurt, but wilbur never wanted tommy to understand what it was like to want to die, he just wanted tommy to understand why wilbur wants to die and why that isn't necessarily a bad thing. does it ever all make you fucking crazy man.

Also the reason that magic users twinsduo keep getting into so many fights is because of the fact they refuse to restrain their magic. Like they taught themselves how to use it in a way that makes them a little too powerful for comfort. Techno putting literally all his cards into just attack magic means he is a public threat that makes the magic commission panicky, because his only honest loyalty is to wilbur and he could probably decimate an entire town with a single spell if given enough prep time.

Wilbur is a little less feared since he cant directly attack anyone but since he’s known as the one who protects techno first and foremost and is always standing at his back, any threat towards him can be considered a threat towards techno and then we are circling back to the guy who can level a town on a whim. So. Not good.

Phil being a master magic user who gets assigned to try and bring the twins in and he looks at the past reports of techno leaving a mile long crater in the forest without a single scratch on either himself or wil and he’s just like “is this a death mission. Are you sending me to DIE? Because it sounds like you want me to get killed and DIE.”

I'd like to think that the one time someone managed to make Techno disappear via invisibility, the result was disastrous in oh they're both threats actually, not just Techno. Like Wilbur just automatically puts every living breathing being in a 5 mile radius in individual indestructible shields— even if Techno's invisible, he's inside a shield so it's no prob 👍 except yes it is a problem cause the shield does not only stop magic and weapons, it also stops food and water so basically if he kept it up he would starve them all.

OUHGGGG YOUR MIND i adore the idea of wilbur using his defense magic as a sort of attack— like he can trap people effectively he can corner them and hold them still, even if he can’t outright hurt them, he can make it so that they wont take another step anywhere until he sets them free.

He’ll lower the shields— just as soon as Techno is in sight again. Just as soon as he’s assured Techno is fine also after that. He can literally put the entire battlefield on pause. Go ahead and try to fire your way out! it’s not gonna Work. He’ll hold everything still until he’s sure techno is ok, and if he has to wait until your body rots, then he’ll do that too. Just because he is on defense doesn’t mean he cant indirectly kill you. He protects Techno in any way he can. He’s going to do whatever he can.

ok listen not to angstify your codependent magic twinsduo story because it’s so perfect i love the unstoppable force immovable object duo but BECAUSE wilbur is So Good at shields and at protection magic i wonder if that means he would be really unused to getting hurt at all, and his pain tolerance—— ok wait i said angst but change of mind actually cus suddenly i can only think of somebody managing to attack wilbur but only a LITTLE like they basically just slap him. magic equivalent of a paper cut. and he’s immediately reacting like he got shot. crying screaming clutching at the injury. techno panics and turns the attacker into atoms. obliterated. he’s clutching at wilbur like he’s dying and meanwhile wilbur has the tiniest scrape ever. they’re both screaming. “techno he poked me :((“ and techno promptly leveling a mountain in his overkill. it’s flat now. yeah ok this is better than angst actually

Wilbur: IM DYINGGG. IM BLEEDING OUT. OH THIS IS THE END. ITS OVER!! I SEE THE LIGHT!!

Techno, holding him: NOOOOO WILBURRRR WHYYYY

and then right next to them there is a giant fucking crater and a distinct LACK of a mountain and the singular survivor in the far far distance is terrified to think of what their reaction would be if wilbur was hurt beyond a simple scrape

So i do have a specific plan for my superhero fic rn but I think itd be really funny to have an semi angst moment where wilbur tries to isolate himself but it immediately gets interrupted by phil grabbing him then holding him by the ankle like hundreds of feet off the ground while going “either we talk or im just gonna keep dropping you over and over” “THIS SEEMS COUNTERPRODUCTIVE” “no its called bonding”

One thing about the dsmp is that I cannot blame fan artists and fic writers at all for deleting their fan works after all the stuff came out about many of the ccs, but at the same time it makes me a little sad with how it’s only been 4-5 years and so many of the fanworks are just gone. It feels like the internet is forever and, in some ways it is, but it also really isn’t
