The other day a man on the internet informed me that sex workers who try to avoid rapists and murderers would be like therapists who refuse to see emotionally unstable patients because they might be “dangerous”, and that sex workers who refuse to see “bad” people are just avoiding helping others and propagating more crime (I guess because the rapists/murderers can’t satisfy their urges by taking them out on us??? So they go do it to other people instead???). Plus according to him we’re ALL capable of bad things (like rape and murder, I guess) so trying to avoid “bad” people is impossible and pointless.

Why do so many ppl think that there’s some kinda “beat, rape & murder” quota that abusive men can fill, leaving them satisfied & unable to abuse till its time to meet the quota again??? If he’s violent to a sex worker, he is generally going to be violent towards any woman (or child, social “inferior”, etc) he can get alone & feels a sense of (socially sanctioned) entitlement towards. If someone believes that they have a right to control & dominate women, & that using violence to maintain that right is ok, they are going to exercise that towards their partner/wife, daughter, etc, as well as sex workers.

I remember when there were several mass shootings of (mostly) women by men who had been rejected and reading so many comments like “why didn’t he just go and see a prostitute?” - because it doesn’t matter to the general public when sex workers are raped and killed lets be honest, it’s just another number.
