Technology can offer many opportunities and benefits to students in helping them to develop and communicate their employability skills. However many educational providers miss vital opportunities to equip students with the skills needed in the modern workplace. This webinar will summarise the findings from the recently launched 'technology for employability' report, focusing on an emerging vision for how universities and colleges can best prepare students for life and employment in a digital world.AimsWe will describe a generic ‘employable student’ model which balances discipline and employability elements, using seven key employability groupings and digital literacies embedded throughout. We will also show a ‘connected curricula’ model for integrating employability and digital literacy into programme design.Participants will explore these approaches, discuss what they mean in practice, and raise the challenges to achieving them.We will also touch on further findings from the research, including a five dimensional model for considering the opportunities technology can offer and the accompanying benefits of use.PreparationIn preparation for the webinar, please familiarise yourselves with:The technology for employability quick read reportHigher education (HE) and further education (FE) case studies. The full report is also available. You can follow project developments via our developing student employability project page and our blog
