A locale of the strawberry poison frog (Oophaga pumillo) possibly Oophaga pumillo "Bastimentos cemetery" in Panama
by Art
Bay Boulevard, San Diego.
It’s salt.
More specifically, it’s South Bay Salt Works. Good birdwatching over there. There are a couple of feral flamingos that like to hang out. The San Diego Zoo denied having any of theirs missing so these must be exotic pets that escaped. Some people say they probably flew up from Tijuana because this place is close to the border and there’s a lot of wildlife trafficking and exotic animal sales. Some kid got stopped trying to smuggle in a tiger cub a few years ago. (Looks like he’s doing well at a local animal sanctuary now though. …Except he killed one of the other tigers there because they accidentally wound up in the same habitat. 😬 )
There’s also a toucan that’s been seen in the area.
The iNaturalist observations tell a story if you look at them in chronological order. At first it was just the one flamingo but then a second showed up. The first one looked kind of pale when it was first sighted but now they both look great.

i bet it feels good to be an underwater plant just swaying in sync with the flow of water
