he scratches the back of his neck, slightly embarrassed by the fact of needing a babysitter. he wishes his mom wasn’t so protective of him, he understands she’s probably taking extra care of him because she’s afraid of losing him, but he wants to show that he’ll be fine on his own. of course, he never got his way when it came to that, so he just grinned and bared it.
“yeah? sometimes i think she still sees me as a baby.” she still treats me like one. he steps aside, closing the door once she’s inside.
at her suggestion, he looks around, eyebrows furrowing. he has to make a decision; he wants to go out, but he knows his mother will freak out if she finds out he left the house with a stranger. oh well, she won’t have to find out. he shrugs at her, pursing his lips. “well, if my mom was home, i’d probably be with my friends.. but she doesn’t want me out when she’s not home.”
‘ well.....why not have your friends come here ?? i mean, unless you wanna be a little rebellious. ’
EDDIE SEEMED LIKE A GOOD KID , & AS LONG AS SHE KEPT AN EYE ON HIM , she was doing her job & no one had to worry. she’s mostly teasing , looking down at him with a playful smile. mrs. kaspbrak had made it seem like eddie really was just a little kid , not a teenager old enough to be alone for a few hours. frankie figured she was one of those weird moms who were , like , way too protective of their kids , frankie knew a lot of those moms. still , she crosses her arms lightly , looking back at the door & almost laughing. he didn’t seem like the rebellious type , but she figured she could at least offer to let him be outside. but then again , frankie realized she probably shouldn’t expect anything , after all she’d been expecting a boy no older than five or so , not one just a few years younger than she was.
‘ besides, i think you’re old enough to do what you want. the only rule is i have to tag along, which probably sucks for you. ’
