so! i'sret is a fictional town thats inspired by other puppet-themed media (dhmis, welcome home, and @studentkeep (i hope you dont mind the @!)). its a "this town seems lovely and is filled with such lovely people!... but something feels... off..." kind of story!
the plot is: perry was a murderer. and, obviously, when you murder people, you need to take care of the bodies. while perry did use some of the bodies as fertilizer for their garden, there was still lots left over. so, they used the remains to make puppets.
the residents of i'sret dont remember their past lives or really anything outside of their cozy neighborhood. they live in a mildy comfortable bliss, never quite feeling content but happy enough to ignore it.
the residents include:
eugene, a cheery teddy bear with a balloon head thats always threatening to fly away,
ollie, an older gent who often sits on his front porch watching the butterflies play,
mason, a goofy pup thats always practicing magic tricks,
fleur, a mischievous sunflower thats always carrying a concerningly wide grin,
and finally, pierrot, an anxious posing doll that seems to be in a constant state of grief.
im still working on them, of course! i have so many ideas and so many things i wanna try out- ill probably (probably) start posting about them more often, too.
(also, fun fact! i'sret is a word created from a conlang im working on. its a mix of the words "pond" and "field"! the conlang is called fa'kaiy, which roughly translates to "mother language" :] )
(also also... studentkeep isnt as dark, even though i paired with dhmis and welcome home... its style and characters are what inspired me the most lol)

hello ! lets see ... lets start with the basics for inspo ! sesame street ... muppets ... dhmis ... these are the most obvious i think OH OH AND PEEWEES PLAYHOUSE ... to be more specific though ! elmo goes to the doctor is one thats stuck with me ... i think if studentkeep had flash games theyd be like this & starfall ...
then there is storybooks ... like richard scarry and those chunky lined cliparts : ) ... and toys ( like that phone with the face ! and pipe cleaner cats ) i actually have a pintrest board dedicated to studentkeep ... not showing that though
in general though i try to keep a 70s ( yet timeless ) kind of energy : ) ... also specific characters have their own inspirations ... like lila being very much inspired by " the ballad of jane doe " in ride the cyclone
i actually intended to make a voiceclaim video but i never got around to it ... and i doubt i will ... so ! here is a quick list

just wanted to say I've finally gotten around to listening to the playlist in full and I'm in LOOOOVE with the musical inspo for this! Hounds of Love was the first record I've ever owned and always felt so inspired by Cloudbusting in particular, it's lovely to see that on the list! Any other artists or songs that you associate with studentkeep that maybe didn't make the cut?

huuum . lets see ... i considered tmbg ' s " kiss me son of god " for a bit ... but the producers are way too kind for anything like that to happen
i also REALLY wanted to add " crusin for sentient beings " to the playlist but unfortunately it is not on spotify 😔 i also really wanted to add something from logan whitehurst but i havent really found anything that fits just yet
theres also " blue magic " but again it is not on spotify ... and this one ! ( the little bert and ernie section warms my heart )
