How to wake up easily in the mornings!
Okay, so I love to sleep (who doesnât!?) buuuut I always find myself feeling tired during the day, and recently Iâve come up with a couple of things to do to help myself (and now, others) sleep better, feel less tired and wake up more easily!
1. Get. Enough. Sleep.Â
I know so many people who complain about being tired and itâs almost always because they stay up too late the night before. What they need is a sleep schedule, a set time to go to bed every night and wake up each day. I, being a young teen who canât function without enough sleep, usually go to bed at 11 and wake up at 8 on nights that I donât have school, and on nights that I do, I go to bed and wake up an hour earlier.Â
If you use your bed like a couch, use it to lounge around on your phone/ laptop on and do homework sitting on it, you brain gradually learns to associate it with those things. To make sure that your brain knows your bed is only for sleep: use it only for sleeping! Simple as that, yet most people (including myself) find it tricky.
2. Your bed is for sleeping and ONLY sleeping.
I have a bunk bed, so I use the bottom bunk for whatever I like (usually scrolling through tumblr or watching Netflix) and when I feel itâs time to go to bed, I leave my phone on my desk and climb onto the top bunk and go to sleep. Bringing your phone to bed only encourages you to go on it and before you know it, your battery is dead and itâs 4am. So donât. Just put the phone down for once. Eventually your brain will learn that bed=sleep and youâll be able to get to sleep faster at night.
3. Waking up effectively.
This can be separated into 3 main points:
Donât hit snooze, this is so tempting, but getting up as soon as your alarm goes off is key to being more productive in the mornings.
Drink a glass of water as soon a you wake up, this helps you feel more refreshed and keeps you hydrated (which Tumblr seems obsessed with haha)
This oneâs more specific to me, but I figured that other people might find it useful too: Put on some music when you get up, dancing around my room to it while Iâm getting dressed and ready for the day puts me in a really good mood and if Iâm feeling happy Iâm usually more productive too! (If you want to know what Iâm listening to, my Spotify is laura_ann203)
This is my first original textpost, hopefully someone found it helpful? Iâll probably be making more of these in the future.
Feel free to reblog this so that other people can use these tips too!

â58. Don't lock yourself in your room during freshers and be an introvertâ
-82 things you should under no circumstances do at university
âDonâtâŠbe a introvertâ Donât be a introvert? Iâll be myself thank you very fucking much. Can we stop making out being an introvert is a bad thing, please
Kids born between 1995 and 1998 are interesting because they fall somewhere between Gen X and Millenials cause they grew up on the tail end of left over 90s stuff but also were right there at the beginning of the 2000s and all that tech and innovation. They donât really identify with, like, Nirvana being the voice of their generation, but they still hold onto the 90s nostalgia and remember a time before widespread Internet and dial up. 9/11 is like a distant memory but the ramifications are just an accepted part of life. They remember a time before iPhones and the economic collapse but much of the pop culture is too old for them. Theyâre an interesting transition group of kids that donât really fit perfectly into either group. I just think thatâs really interesting.
small things to do that make your mind feel clearer
close all your internet tabs except the one youâre using
delete all your text messages
delete negative people from social networks
throw some things away. just throw them away
tidy your desk. make a blank surface
drink 3 glasses of water
open the curtains
wash your face and brush your teeth
At one time food was all natural, no chemicals, no preservatives and no pesticides. People were physically fit had plenty of exercise and the average life span was only 48.
a 90âs kid? donât you mean sad adult?
70,000 people have reblogged this but no one is trying to defend themselves
There is nothing to defend
#i read a post once that described 90s kids as the generation of nostalgia #because so much technological advancement happened in such a rapid timeframe when we were growing up #that we can clearly remember having technologies that are now obsolete #like going from a corded hugeass phone to a small computer in your pocket just within our formative years is a major thing #and it sparks a nostalgia for our seemly âsimplerâ childhoods #because so much rapid development makes it seem like it was a lot longer ago than it actually was (x)
This is the most solid explanation of our decade I have ever heard.
Oh my god
Just to add onto that, our childhood wasnât even technology based. We grew up knowing of chalk, skateboards, jump rope, street hockey, playgrounds, butterfly collecting, etc. Slowly technology took over our lives and now there are hardly kids playing outside in the summer. We can clearly remember our childhood as it was and now we can see the clear line between it. We were the generation right smack in the middle of it all. Our parents were of non-tech and our children/young siblings will be all tech.
Not to mention, ours was the last generation that grew up with all those bright promises of âwork hard, go to college, and youâll have a successful life,â only to find those hopes abruptly dashed when the housing bubble burst. Milliennials have grown up expecting that disappointment, because for them, the problem has been there since Day One.
So 90s kids arenât just nostalgicâŠweâre BITTER. And we ache for those days when we could still think that the world was boundless and full of the opportunities we were promised since the first day of kindergarten.
Every time someone adds to this i have to reblog.
It hurts how relatable this is
tips for high school freshman: 1. i know, i know. this is terrifying. youâre going to be dealing with many huge changes. but change is good. remember that. 2. try not to blend in. i know its easier but you wanna make some friends, right? you probably want to make good relationships with teachers too. stand out. be remembered in the best ways possible. 3. work hard. strive to be the best. stay up late studying, take notes, ask questions, stay after class, do whatever you can to achieve youâre goals. prove to yourself and everyone around you that you are capable of amazing things. 4. participate. speak your thoughts in group discussions. join clubs. play sports. donât be afraid. you deserve to be noticed and listened to. 5. stay organized. use planners, label everything, color code, make files on your laptop, donât keep unnecessary tabs open, and make sure youâre not a mess too. 6. try and make friends. i know how difficult its going to be but youâll need them. talk to the people on your cross country team, talk to the art kids in first period, talk to the weird kid sitting next to you in assembly. just try and make friends. you need people, no matter how much it seems like you donât. you will not be able to survive this alone. 7. study. make flashcards, copy notes, use quizlet, i dont care just study. your phone can wait an hour or two. 8. make sure your bag is fully stocked. yâknow like extra change, deodorant, hand cream, pads, chapstick, etc. you never know what could happen. 9. its okay if you donât talk to your old friends anymore. youâll be okay. so will they. but if you ever find yourself needing to talk to someone, donât hesitate to text them. they will listen. 10. take a warm shower every night. wash your hair twice a week. drink a glass of milk every morning and a glass of water every night. have a cup of tea while studying/doing homework. reward yourself with an episode of your favorite show. self care is important. 11. make sure to read and write daily. prioritize it. 12. donât be afraid to express yourself. if your school has a strong arts program, use it. paint, sculpt, draw. find inspiration and create. 13. stay focused and donât stray from your expectations. 14. find ways to stay motivated. decorate your desk, buy cute notebooks, imagine how far youâll go by doing well in school. 15. mentally make a daily schedule to follow. repetition is comforting. while everything around you is changing faster than you can blink, take comfort in the fact that your morning routine stays the same. 16. school comes first, but try to make time for your friends. both old and new. you deserve to have some fun. but donât feel bad if youâd rather stay home with a tub of ice-cream and a season of some netflix series. 17. there will be bad days. days when it seems like you canât get out of bed. days when it seems like stress is the only thing youâre feeling. days when you just want to give up. but you have to fight through it. have a cup of tea. read that old book you love. watch some netflix. take a break. itâll all be okay. 18. theyâll also be days when you miss your old life with every bone in your body. on these days, text your old friends. maybe schedule to hang out. or maybe look at old pictures and videos and reminece on all the fun times you had together. donât feel sad for too long. many more joyous memories will be created. 19. time heals everything. when days are gloomy and your heart is a lil heavy, remember that there is nothing that the passage of time cannot fix. 20. try to finish all your homework before dark. open the windows. welcome the fresh air and let the sunlight motivate you. 21. spend time with your family. you only have so much time left with them before college, donât waste it. put down your phone, and just enjoy their presence. 22. relativity is everything. i know it seems like one thing is the end of the world, but take a moment to zoom out. youâll realize that some things are not big as they seem. 23. be fearless. take big steps. this is your time.
throughout my freshman year i wrote tips down to help myself. i hope this helps others as well. (via angelic-gal)
5 things to remind yourself everyday:
if you think someone looks pretty or extra nice today, tell them. some times, some people need a little bit of confidence boost or some cheering up to continue going on with their days!
there is no harm in saying no if you believe that the situation is becoming too uncomfortable. you are not obliged to say yes! and you have the right to only do things that you believe is safe for your mental health and well being.
stop interchanging sorry and thank you. instead of apologizing to someone for being late, say thank you for their patience to wait for you! there is a thin line between being grateful and feeling sorry and once youâve learned how it works, you will become a better communicator and a better person in general.
always make an effort to be kinder in everything that you do! kindness is a choice and living your life in a much kinder way will make you feel more content. of course being kind does not necessarily only mean being kind to other people, it also means being kind to yourself.
instead of focusing on the whole picture itself, try to appreciate the tiny beautiful details about your everyday life. see how the sky changes its colors every now and then? appreciate it. observe how your streets are copper-colored because of fallen leaves. inhale the blossoms of your spring garden.
Things that I learned in my first year at university
1. Some people are not there to work, theyâre just joking around. Don't waste your time with them and try to meet the people that really care.
2. One semester passes at the speed of light. Start from day one and try not to let anything unrevised for too long (one week is considered too long).
3. Your teachers will be your saviors. They are the ones who know everything so make sure you have a good working relationship with them (let them see you know stuff and are willing to work) and then when youâre having more trouble learning something they will gladly help you.
4. Be consistent with your routine. A routine helps you get started more easily and defeat the inertia and laziness. Organizing my day as a working day, with study starting at 10 in the morning and classes in the afternoon, helps me focusing on the things I have to do, not waste time, and also have tiny pieces of time during the day to treat myself.
5. Treat yourself. Sometimes I take the bus instead of the metro because I like to watch the views. Sometimes I buy a cake for lunch. Sometimes I take a break in the park and, at the end of the day I go on a walk. Make sure you donât forget yourself in the middle of everything. Youâre the most important thing!
6. Find things that motivate you. A nice looking library, a park, a playlist, everything is valid as long as it makes you ready to work.
7. Choose your group wisely. When making group projects make sure you choose the people who really want to work, and if they donât talk to your teachers, they will advise you. Also, donât be afraid to make a group project on your own. You will survive, trust me! And you will learn a lot!
8. The front seat is the best. Choose a good seat in class where you can see and hear your teacher and they can hear you. The front seat is my favorite because it is easier to ignore everyone else and focus on the class.
9. Exercise. Really! Do something like walking every day, or yoga, or whatever you prefer, but make sure you move. It helps your brain and your body.
10. Have fun. At least every week or twice a month, go somewhere you like or visit a new place. Play the tourist and take your mind away from the work. Thatâs the way to keep your mind sane.
