A Really Fucking Vulgar Guide to Not Losing Your Shit in College (Condensed Version)
Bitches love to put things into lists. Moreover, bitches love numbered shit. Hereâs some numbered shit in list format to help you not suck in higher education. Youâre welcome.
1. Go to class. Like 210% serious. I donât give a shit if youâre a get by on nothing, A+ slacker. Youâre fucking paying for this crap so you might as well get the services owed to you. Take your ass to class even if you zone out 99% of the time. You know 1% more than you did when you walked up in there. Congrats, asshole.
2. All that free time you have during your first week of classes? Make it your bitch. Donât just print the goddamn syllabus and be like all done. No motherfucker. Take a good fucking look at that assignment list. Whatâs due next week? Yeah, do that shit now bc I know you donât have anything else to do. Then when youâre coughing up a lung six weeks into the semester and donât feel like getting your ass up to do that calculus homework, youâll remember this week. Youâll remember that youâve been a week ahead this whole damn semester. Pat yourself on the back, ass wipe.
3. Prepare yo self. No seriously. You got notes to print for class? Sure you could be like all those other bitches and just shove them into your backpack, or you could actually /prepare/ for class. Iâm talking looking that shit over, identifying key concepts, getting a decent grasp of the material before your ass is even in class. You a STEM major? Yeah, make this kinda shit your life because now class is like one bomb ass group review session. Again, youâre welcome.
4. Snack like a motherfucker, but save that junk food shit for the weekends. From now on, you are a fucking health guru during the week or if youâre a slacker like me, at least on the days you have class. Fruits? Hell yeah. Pack some of those. Mind wandering in class? Snack on some apple slices. Canât stay awake? Keep eating some almonds or some shit, but donât be that bitch with the potato chips. Just donât.
5. Read. Yeah, you heard me. Read and Iâm not just talking assigned reading. I bet my left butt cheek that your campus library has /something/ of interest to you. Commuting and donât want to drive out there? Library databases bro. Weâre in the digital age, motherfucker. Iâd bet my other butt cheek that the shit you want is in a nice little PDF somewhere. But na man, you thinking maybe you want to go into computer science? Check out computer science books and eat them up bro. You donât like reading them? Probably not the field for you. You a biology major in your second year? Yeah dumbass. Time to break out the bio books and not the ones your professor is shoving in your face. Amaze your friends and teachers with your out of class knowledge. Be a fucking star.
real study tips
so many âstudy tipsâ on tumblr are cutesy, unhelpful and downright unrealistic. iâve complied the best of the best actual study tips to share with you all.Â
1. start studying early! if you get test stress, it can be drastically reduced by starting to study for that test early.Â
2. know whatâs going to be on the test/what you are supposed to be learning in this unit. this will help you know what to focus on while studying teachers who give out âlearning targetsâ or even a syllabus are the real MVPs.
3. you can get a much deeper understanding by overlearning. overlearning a subject is when you take what you have learned in class, and take it to the next step. apply what you are learning to how you would need it in real life. or if somethings just not connecting, google it. watch youtube videos. etc. find other ways to learn/understand it more.
4. donât rely on the teacher alone. you have sooooo many resources. like google, youtube, khan academy, etc!! use them cause theyâre free!!
5. find your study mojo and do what works for you. try out many different techniques, but once you find what really works, stop wasting time and get to it! work best alone? donât feel bad turning down your friend invite to a study group. donât waste your time once you know what works.
6. plan everything. less stress + more time = better learning!
7. donât let selfcare go down the drain while studying. eat, sleep and hydrate cause you need it!! trust me.
8. donât do your studying in huge chunks. take. study. breaks!! go to the gym, watch an episode (or 3) of parks & rec! all that info isnât gonna sink in unless you plan!
9. discipline. if you canât do it, get a friend who will tell you straight up that you need to suck it up and START STUDYING!! rely on discipline, not motivation. get discipline by sticking to a schedule. see what comes out of it, youâll like the results.
10. i love this quote so much it always helps me when studying a class i canât stand:Â âyouâre studying what you hate so one day you can do what you love.â and that is soooo true!! picture your goals and have AMBITION!! that will get you through the hardest of study sessions.Â
11. donât be a robot-reader. make sure you are comprehending what you read. to check yourself on this, give yourself quizzes, do practice problems, etc!Â
12. organization goes a long way.
13. be self-reliant. would you hire yourself if you were a boss? focus on self imporvement, NOT perfection. chasing perfection is like chasing the wind.Â
14. turn off your damn phone. now.
15. master material by looking for how it fits into the big picture. big picture is key. break down the info, then step back and watch it make sense.Â
16. revise your notes. in class, write down a tonnnn of stuff, write down all the stuff. then, while studying, focus on what is really important and revise your notes. several times

iâve noticed there are a lot more lgbt+ studyblrs than people think there are. often i get messages from people saying to me âitâs nice to see another queer person in the studyblr communityâ as if weâre rare. well, because of that, iâve decided, why not host an index (much like the original studyblr index) so us lovely lgbt folk can find each other better and even connect with people of our own gender/sexuality !
the blog is @queerstudyblrs !
rules:
must be following gaystudies (me!)
reblog this post
you cannot identify as both cis and straightÂ
fill out this typeform !
put a link to the index in your description/about page just by linking queerstudyblrs with the + sign as the text so as to not take up too much space.
everyone who fills out the form will be included !!
what will happen:
your url will be added to >the index<Â based on your sexuality and/or gender so others can find you!
other info:
while i will be answering general questions about mechanics of the index, i wonât really be doing much else. itâs kind of a stand alone thing that once youâre in the index, youâre in the index. itâs not a network or anything.
please allow some time for me to put you on the index. i am doing this alone.
also â i do understand that some people do not like the word queer, and i only chose it for the name bc i couldnât type lgbt+ into the url. it is okay if you donât want to join because the word is triggering/uncomfortable for you. if thereâs anything i can do to alleviate this, please let me know.
thanks for reading !!

âAnd the sky smiled right back at you, like it knew a little more about you each night.â
Soooo Iâm back! This monthly spread has been long due but hey itâs here now and Iâm pretty happy with how it turned out~ Oh and thank you all so much for 3K followers â¤
iâve been getting into calligraphy a LOT lately and i recently started getting into watercolors, so i though iâd make a masterpost of lettering! this was also highly requested â i couldnât find many lettering masterposts so i decided to make a massive one!!
important things to remember
choosing the right pen is incredibly essential to improving handwriting and lettering! this by no means says that you need to go out and buy expensive stationery and expensive guides to lettering and whatnot, but that you should find one that works for you and work up from that to your goal!
especially for brush lettering, it is important to start off with a harder tip and then progress to softer, more flexible tips as you will be less likely to destroy the tip of the pen!!
improving your handwriting and lettering takes time, so be patient!! this will not happen overnight. iâve been doing calligraphy for about 6 (?) months now and mine still isnât where i want it to be, but it has improved immensely from when i first began!

choosing a brush pen for calligraphy
my stationery recommendations for brush lettering
a much larger post with all my stationery recommendations will be coming soon, but for now here are some specifically for brush lettering :)
crayola supertips are probably the best for beginners as they can help you learn how to hold the marker. they are also great for learning the thin upstrokes and thick downstrokes!!
pentel fude touch sign pens are great for beginners as they have a hard tip and are very easy to manipulate. they are also great for understanding if you prefer the hard tip to the soft tip, especially if your practice with the tombow fudenosuke brushes alongside them!!
the tombow fudenosuke brush pen (hard)Â is great for beginners as it is very similar to the pentel fude touch sign pens as well and is easy to manipulate and practice with because of itâs hard tip!Â
artline stix are also very good for beginners! not only do they have a firm tip, but their tip is very thick and perfect for beginning practice with a real brush pen!
tombow fudenosuke brush pen (soft)Â is the first brush pen that I used that was a soft-tipped brush pen! this one was easy to master after practicing for so long with a pencil and hard-tipped brush pens. i would definitely recommend this for intermediate/advanced calligraphers!!
tombow ABT dual brush pens are much like the tombow fudenosuke soft brush pen as they are also quite flexible and require practice before use, otherwise they begin to fray! the nice thing about these pens is that they come in 95 colors and are dual-ended! definitely recommend for intermediate/advanced calligraphers!

this is so helpful for beginners!
thanks for mentioning my posts!
One word moodboard: Study requested by anonÂ
school mindset
essays - make each essay you write better than the last
⨠small assignments - aim for 100s, expect 100s, get 100s
⨠homework - pretend theyâre assignments
⨠homework thatâs not graded - pretend! theyâre! assignments!
⨠tests - study for 100s, expect less
⨠long term projects - act like itâs due in four days -even when itâs not- until youâre done with it
⨠group projects - do not get angry
⨠presentations - pretend youâre obama
disclaimer - this works for me, it may not work for everybody, do not push yourself too hard!!
This is such a great way to treat college work!
Pretend you're Obama đ

Just out of curiosity. I go back and forth between "study-ing-uhl" and "study-ing-lĂŠ"
Lazy work afternoon. I don't have any actual lab work to do today so I'm preparing for the many research presentations I have coming up. I *never* use the brown Mildliner so I thought I'd let it shine today đ
âYou only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.â - Mae West
Beautiful bullet journal pages! Iâm very jealous of this amazing style.Â
the side that is shown on studyblr : sitting at a desk on a nice windy day, writing away in a grid notebook with mildliner highlighters laid out in front of you, listening to classical music
the side that isnât shown on studyblr : staying up til 4am to write an essay, crying yourself to sleep due to stress, doing a chinese paper while suppressing an anxiety attack
yes itâs nice to study, but sometimes it sucks and that shouldnât be overlooked in this community. itâs time to show both sides to let people know that they arenât alone in their mental illnesses and exhaustion.
