Last work/study session of the year. It was an incredible, tough year, and there are a lot of work related concerns on my mind that keep me up every night. The next couple of months will be very challenging, and I’m mentally preparing myself for the time ahead. I will have to decide whether to apply for teaching jobs or whether to leave teaching. I will have to go through 3 teaching exams and 3 oral exams. And then I will be free. Right now, all of that sounds so daunting, it makes me want to run far away. 

But for now, let’s reflect on some realizations I had this year:

do not base your identity on your job/studies/career

romanticizing parts of your life and your job is nice but do not lose yourself in denial 

it will take active effort to stay kind and soft in a system that is anything but 

people your age are getting married and having babies - WILD. You don’t have to do the same

teenagers respect you when you take them serious 

many students do not have the same privileged upbringing you had - be kind. Always. 

healthy student > good grades

crying in your car is weirdly therapeutic 

making life-changing decisions are scary 

half of me is a big city girl and the other half a cottage core girl and they have daily fistfights 

fanfiction. god bless
