Dragging my bleeding, broken body up to the last computer and hitting post before succumbing to my injuries…
An overwhelming sense of calmness descends upon the Disco.
i'd love you if and only if you were a worm. bitch
i do not have the strength to block all the bots. welcome ladies make yourselves at home i guess. im a feminist
the tension between the genuine cleverness of the joke and the incompetence implied by putting it on two-sentence horror is what makes this for me
Broke: Marie Antoinette bankrupted France with her dresses and wigs and got beheaded for telling starving peasants to go eat cake
Woke: France's debt from helping the American Revolution was a bigger factor in its bankruptcy than anything Marie ever spent money on, but she was scapegoated due to xenophobia and misogyny and never even said the cake quote
BESPOKE: Even though Marie was the victim of xenophobia and misogyny she was still an archconservative who resisted progressive reform harder than Louis, brokered secret deals with deputies to sabotage the Revolution, tried to escape with Louis to turn an army on their own people, and does not deserve to be glorified as some sort of feminist icon when events led by lower class women, like the Women's March on Versailles, are lesser known than the factoid that the cake quote is a lie
>brokered secret deals with deputies to sabotage the Revolution, tried to escape with Louis to turn an army on their own people
Oh word? She tried to stop the crazy people that wanted to murder them? The insane revolutionaries that butchered priests, nuns, and normal people who didn't show enough fervor?
Girlboss.
So the common French people were "crazy" for wanting to stop starving, huh. The smelly mean urban poor went after the king & queen for no reason at all. It had definitely nothing to do with the monarchy's decisions that everyone went from thinking the idea of a republic as absurd in 1789 to collectively overthrowing it in 1792. It would've been toooootally justified for Marie and Louis to turn a Prussian army on France to beat their subjects into submission, because their lives are more important than the tens of thousands of rioting poor.
I recommend getting an idea of the French Revolution beyond what you were told in your high school history classes and/or sensationalist YouTube videos before delivering hot takes about it.
one fun thing about being a teacher in march 2023 is that chess is a literal epidemic among teens. we are starting to have meetings about how we can STOP teenagers from playing too much chess which is like if we were trying to figure out how to stop them from reading for fun. When i was in high school five years ago chess was nerd shit only but now it is transcending every social and language barrier and is absolutely rampant. kids aren’t on their phone texting in class anymore it’s ONLY chess.com. kids are playing chess on their phones while playing chess in real life. this is still better than tiktok because at least the kids are developing an attention span from this
“there are no books about….” yes there are. you’re bad at finding books.
“there are no books about this on the front-door display at my local barnes and noble published this month in a bright generic color that is less than 250 pages that i recognize from tiktok.”
Conservatism is all about absolute submission to heteropatriarchal norms.
[ID: tweets by Foz Meadows @fozmeadows:
just so we’re crystal clear: queer rights, trans rights, children’s rights and women’s rights all hinge on the concept of bodily autonomy, which is why conservatives are trying to violently strip that autonomy from ALL these groups at once. every struggle is interconnected. I cannot say this strongly enough: ANY TYPE OF GENDER NONCONFORMITY IS THREATENING TO CONSERVATISM. a married, cis, straight women who’s childless by choice is as dangerous to conservatism as a little trans girl with pink hair, because BOTH defy heteropatriarchal norms. End ID.]
Idk I feel like we're definitely girlbossing too close to the Hayes code gang
you hit play girl thats consenting you can literally turn it off
When you see social justice language being co-opted to support fash ideology like censorship, that’s an op. Be aware.
this isn't a real feature but imagine if it was though
