"One of the most prevalent obstacles in our ability to heal and self-actualise is when our productivity is tied to our worthiness."
I think the studyblr community especially needs to hear this. You don't have to be productive all the time, you need rest. Recovering from internalised capitalism means unpicking all the messages from family, friends, school and workplace that have reinforced the idea that you are a commodity, and that your worth is based on what you do. Your worth is inherent.

herdrafts These are the books that arrived in my September bookmail: Emily Dickinson collected poems and Public Library by Ali Smith. In the past few weeks as I run out of physical books, and I didn’t feel like reading any ebooks, I’ve been rereading the secret history, updating its review, and reading an interesting cultural-fiction about family life and traditions from a small town in Taiwan called A Thousand Moons on a Thousand Rivers by Li-Hung Hsiao. It does helped me to get out from a sudden reading slump.
31.08.20 // flew back to school, moved into a new place, set up a lot of ikea furniture, quarantining, first covid test ever! but two more on the way, finished my thesis proposal draft, getting ready for classes and TA’ing (lmao I am not qualified to TA), looking forward to fall and colder weather 🌻📦

monday, 7 september 2020 | wrote an online criminal law semester test this evening and I think it went okay 😌 we’re currently in our second semester for the year - it’s also the final semester of my degree. I have to go back to uni this coming weekend to pack up all my stuff at my residence since there’s no use staying there anymore due to everything remaining online for the rest of the year. I have the option to move back, but decided againt it because this way I will be saving some money. I am actually so, so sad about having to move everything out because I’ve been robbed of my final year at uni. we had so many plans and places to go to, but now we’ll never get to do those things. I should definitely take a leaf from the book of 2020 and live more deliberately, hesitate less and embrace every single opportunity without lame excuses from now on 🍃
✨19.12.2019 // creative writing is taking up most of my time right now, it’s interesting to challenge myself to write in different ways but I’m still enjoying it immensely. I may have to work through the holiday to catch up but hey ho (ho, ho - geddit). Hope everyone is dealing with end of year stress well ✨

i finally got round to reading 1984 despite it being pretty near the top of my tbr list for the best part of five years... i’m definitely glad that i read it, even if it spooked me a bit. i’m going to have to read animal farm pretty soon too...
