hello ! im currently on a break from college hehe. i still have a project due in a week tho (._.;) anyways happy studying !
do u have any resources for us dweebs that still can’t get the korean alphabet down? i’ve been studying it for the past 1-2 years and it’s just as confusing as ever. tysm!
I’m on mobile right now so I’ll have a edit this later, sorry.
I used the Koreanclass101.com videos when I learned. They have a YouTube channel as well as a website where a lot of content is free. -> https://youtu.be/7-AeTqNStzU ( this is a 35min video covering the basics)
Talk to me in Korean has videos as well as posts. Again free unless you’d like to buy one of their books :) -> http://talktomeinkorean.com/lessons/learn-hangeul/how-to-read-and-write-hangeul-part-1/ (There are two parts to this I believe)
Sweet and Tasty tv on YouTube has some nice content and their blog has some good free printable resources! This is the first part of their Korean learning series -> https://youtu.be/CdiR-6e1h0o
You can also find other resources on YouTube or just straight up google. I however prefer these ones because they show you and you can hear the sounds they make.
Another big thing I would recommend is writing them down while you’re learning them and trying to say them with them. The writing will help you memorize them. You can always download or print off charts to practice your writing and memorization.
Some charts and practice sheets:https://www.koreanclass101.com/learn-hangul/

Ttmik has a book all about Hangul if you’re looking to purchase something. -> https://mykoreanstore.com/products/hangeul-master-book
If anyone else has resources they’d like to add please feel free to put them on this post :)
I used the Go! Billy learn hangul in 90 minutes video on youtube, as well as TTMIK’s hangul master book. Then i use the apps Hangul Punch and Lingo Deer for review. You dont really need the Hangul Master book, i just liked it and like books, but the rest is all free!
I LOVE LingoDeer I use that to study on my breaks at work :) definitely recommended!
11.11.20 // three days of lectures for the new quarter and i’m already falling behind (but just a bit. i swear). lucky for me, wednesdays are mostly free so i had the afternoon to myself to catch up 🍀📖
how to get stuff done
1. invent a deadline for yourself and stick to it. either you finish things early and have free time for other things or you don’t meet your deadline and still have a few days to catch up before it matters
2. celebrate every little achievement. it’s frustrating to wait to get an assignment/exam back because you get no immediate satisfaction. after every task you complete go for a walk, see a friend, cook, get a hot chocolate. feel good about your progress without having to wait for someone else to tell you that you’re doing a good job
3. organise your to-do list using these 4 categories:
important and urgent - do this now!
important but not urgent - schedule this
not important but urgent - delegate this or schedule it for later
not important and not urgent - don’t do this until you have done everything else
4. divide and conquer. if you have a paper to write divide it up into easy chunks e.g. plan/first draft/second draft/checking etc. and tackle these one at a time. don’t just write ‘history paper’ on your to-do list because you will feel unproductive until you tick it off, even if you are making progress
5. don’t forget to put self-care on your to-do list. make sure every day you write down and tick off ‘drink water’ ‘get some fresh air’ ‘take some time away from the computer’ ‘brush teeth’ ‘shower’. you will feel productive and also be looking after yourself, both of which will boost your general productivity
6. study slots not study tasks. break up your tasks into time slots and write those on your to-do list. instead of ‘revise German Unification’ my to-do list will say ‘1 hour German Unification’. after 1 hour I will stop and tick off that task. then write it again later or the next day if I want to do more. it is easier to quantify tasks (especially humanities/arts revision) by time rather than by topic.
7. have a visual indicator of your progress. if you think you need to spend 6 hours on German Unification in total then draw a rectangle and divide it in 6 and colour one segment in for every hour you work so you can see your progress. this will serve as motivation and as a reward for hard work
8. find a friend with a similar/better work ethic than you and sit together in a library and study hard. it’s nice to surround yourself with people who are also working hard for motivation, and for someone to talk to during your study breaks
I hope this helps!

hello ! i went on a walk with my mom today ! it was v nice hehe, we saw a lot of puppies and i took a picture of this sketchbook spread i did in september :) how was your day ?
23:15 - reading A Work In Progress by Connor Franta. i bought this book years ago but forgot i had it :( its very pretty and well written !!
also today was p shitty :( but ! i made notes and revised a bit :D
how was your day ?
good morning ! its diwali :o
i think im going to make notes today and review them ! :D wbu ?
1. Do Past Papers
- Practice makes perfect! Do the LATEST exam paper first (2019 –> 2018 –> 2017 –> 2016 etc). This is because past papers can help you predict the “trend” of questions. If you focus on old exam papers, you can’t really predict the question “trend” accurately. Besides, the syllabus might be outdated and may have changed.
- You still have to do the old past papers for practice, you just have to do the latest ones first!
- Write down the question types and the topics that come up frequently. You will find that some topics appear every year while some don’t. If you have suggested answers/ a marking scheme, compare your answers to the suggested ones. Write down the mistakes you made in a notebook and study them before the exam.
2. Study Session Duration means NOTHING if you cannot focus
Do not set daily goals like “I have to study tort law for 2 hours today”, especially when you can’t concentrate well that day. Sometimes we just couldn’t finish our work within the time limit! What if you can’t focus during that 2 hours? Busy does not equal to productive. So sitting in front of your desk for 2 hours doesn’t necessarily mean that you are productive. You achieved nothing and did not produce any quality work. (while you feel like you have done sth…)
Instead, I set goals like “I have to finish the readings for this topic (e.g. duty of care) of this subject (e.g. tort law) today.”
3. My very weird study habit – nap / sleep after a study session
Researchers found that human’s memories are shifted to more permanent brain regions when you sleep. Your memories are re-organized and stored. Sleep therefore can strengthen your memory. The “study –> nap –> scan through the notes again” method always works well for me.
4. Your Pomodoro Timer Doesn’t have to be 25 mins
Despite the fact that the traditional 25 mins study “rule” works well for some students, it is too short for me to study anything. Having frequent breaks makes me difficult to concentrate, especially when I’m already in the “flow” after 15 mins of studying. I like to have 1 hour or 2 hours study session followed by a 10-minute break. The key is to find out what works best for you.
5. Do not follow all the suggestions on the internet
We see a lot of studying methods suggested on the Internet, but you must figure out whether those methods suit you. I used flashcard when I was in high school but this method didn’t work for me when I studied law in the University. You can first consider which type of learner are you, what subject are you studying and what level of study are you in , then figure out which method works best for you!
6. Treat Open-Book Examinations as Closed Book Examinations
Trust me, you WON’T have time to flip through the pages and find your answers in the books during the exam! Open book exams are usually harder than closed book exams as they are not testing your memory at all. So treat it like a close book exam and have enough preparation.
