Do something!
Police Brutality
Is NOT
A Black Man ONLY
ISSUE
Black women are being killed too. Trans Black people are being killed too. Black CHILDREN are being killed too.
I am incredibly irritated by the erasure of Black women and others from the movement. It makes my blood boil. I know this country would never burn for Sandra or Korryn. I will not stand by Black Lives Matter if the movement continues to ignore everyone except Black men.
Apparently telling people to acknowledge Black women is a reach...
I need to reblog this because I found this 👇
The violence against GAY Black women?? Whew. Don’t get me started. There was a lesbian couple murdered a few years back and it turns out the father of one of the women is who killed them because he was upset she was gay.
We KNOW how the Black community views lesbians, especially masculine presenting women and gay Black men. The whole LGBT+ as a whole is treated like a dirty secret in our communities. I refuse to ignore the mistreatment.
All due respect, most of these stories on the thread are not police brutality related, but most are about black on black crime, which apparently we shouldn't bring up according to Don Lemon. According to him, black lives matter can only be about police brutality. I agree we should bring these stories up and their lives matter. Unfortunately I suspect that's why you get pushback. Because it's uncomfortable for the black community to come to terms with.
Black on Black crime was a term heightened during the Reagan era. You know who kills the majority of their own race? White people but I’ve never heard White on White crime. Crime is crime.
When a Black person kills another Black person, there are consequences. They get convicted and probably spend the majority if not all of their lives in prison.
When WHITE officers kill civilians ON CAMERA, they get paid administrative leaves and famous. That’s why we have a fucking problem.
