Hands down my new favorite song do its perfect fusion of electronic elements, hints of 80's funk, psychedelic outbursts, and beautiful vocal arrangements. From start to finish the track is wildly entertaining and engaging, using all 4:31 seconds without waste.
How to turn up while turning down:

No but seriously, what a track. The deep atmospheric base and smooth flow are completed by the piano in a way that's hard to describe.
Now I know it's Thursday and we are all supposed to be turning up, however, sometimes its better to step back and take a deep breath. Put down whatever your doing and just listen calmly and quietly, it will all make sense, it will all blow over.
So I'm not a huge fan of Azealia/ her style of music, however, this track grabbed me by the ears and demanded that I continued listening. From start to finish it's 100% a joyride. The Latino/island tinged beat and closing, mixed with the skills of whoever produced this track (I have a feeling that she did not...) makes for an impressive jam.
It's finals season, and that means that (for the first time all semester) there is more stress in your body then there is liquor. Many don't know how to deal with this strange phenomenon, and if you fall into that category then go no further than The Veils' "Jesus For the Jugular". It's, raw, it's loud, and it may be the best song you hear all month. I know it isn't exactly throw back Thursday (the track was released in 2012), but when you hear that primal scream and mayhem of sound, you cant help but stomp along/through anything in your path.
Parquet Courts are a New York via Texas quartet that pound out tight, energetic post-punk sounds. The beauty of the band's music is created using equal parts weirdness, simplicity, and smart scrappy punk. Off there July release, Sunbathing Animals, "Black and White" is up-tempo and almost dancible track. No seriously, even through the guitar's seemingly impromptu madness, the band displays unflinching composure, leaving the rest of us to flail happily about, happy that there are still bands making this kind of music.
How about this tasty indie jam? This Aussie group blends a perfect amount of bouncy pop, groovy baselines, coooool guitars (think new Black Keys), and sing (or scream) along lyrics. San Cisco really has something special here and I highly recommend exploring all the band has to offer at this time. I feel like its only a matter of time before these guys explode onto every radio in America- but that's just like, my opinion, man.
BØRNS, a group from LA by way of Michigan, means business. Their blend of folk, rock, glam, and electronic is so pleasant and so captivating you just end up with their songs on repeat. This particular track, 10,000 Emerald Pools, is a great example. The vocals are angelic and the music is a swirling, hypnotic blend of rock that carries you into a completely different cosmos. I'm starting to believe that this really is, all I need to breathe.
Diamond Rugs is a super group that pulls members from Deer Tick, The Black Lips, Los Lobos, Dead Confederate, and Six Finger Satellite. With so many influences and different sounds behind each artists, you may find this track simplistic and folksy. I personally find this track, Blue Mountains, irresistible. There is this straightforwardness that it possess. From the lyrics, to the singer to the sparse but wholesome arrangement- it's what laid back honesty sounds like.
So a friend of mine recently mentioned that I haven;t posted anything here for a while. I explained to him that not a lot of people follow it and I just didn't feel like I was "getting the job done", and that kinda sat with me for a few days. I have now realized that this isn't a job, its a really awesome hobby and I should treat it as such. If that deep-ass piece of introspection didn't move you, then this song surely will. Super catchy, super energetic, super sing-a-longy. Ya'll feeling a little lucky? The Jungle Giants are, and they wan to share both luck and happiness with this incredibly fun track.
I want to describe how amazing his show was this summer, however it has left me speechless to this day. My favorite up and coming artist. Prepare for rock like you have't heard since the 90's.

Vibes fah days. Sunday night is made for chilling, which is why Jetpack Jones has given us this track. I will see yall on Monday- best of luck.

Is it new? No. Is it pure and unique? Eh.. Is it incredibly smart and politically sound? Of course not. But with lines as catchy as that powder and a flow that seemed to come from straight out of nowhere, G-Eazy has earned the right to kick this fabulous Friday off. Oh, and DJ Carnage? Yeah, you fucking killed it too big guy. Leggo.
You know those days filled with walking around doing things "the man" wants you to do? Today might have been one of them, in which case, fuck the man and fuck stress in general. The sun is going down so why not take the time to relax (and possibly smoke that J you rolled earlier this morning..)? Here to help us do just that is Foreign/National with there track Life Tourist and I must say, they really did craft something special with this one. The vocals are sooo soothing, the guitar has that dreamy feel which is heightened by the brilliant blend of psychedelic grooviness making waves throughout the whole song. So put on some pajama pants, wear them around the rest of the day, and get caught in Foreign/Nationals' chill-psychedelic-pop-rock bliss.
Mondays suck hard. Luckily, this song does not. The track is like a trip on a light, airy, psychedelic cloud- and I'm giving you a ticket to ride. And ride you shall! Morning Harvey wrote and produced this one themselves which is sadly becoming a fading art within itself nowadays. I long boarded to class today with this going in my headphones and I nearly wept in joy/ took off, jaming-out into the heavens.
