adding onto another person's question - what does dipper think of reader and reader and ford's relationship? I know mabel would be all for the romance and its pretty obvious how she feels, but dippers a bit more secretive with his feelings about it (whereas mabel is still thinking about niles🤦♀️)
Dipper is a bit of a mixed bag.
He's highly protective of Ford because he understands (to some extent) his trauma with Bill. There's a great empathy there and Dipper recognises that Ford is more vulnerable than he lets on, even if it's never really discussed between the two of them. He regards Ford extremely highly and would never get in the way of Ford's wants, but he's always being protective from the side lines. He's sort of a passive, watchful eye, in a way. Dipper wouldn't hesitate to defend Ford if necessary, but he trusts that Ford can take care of himself where he needs to.
On the other hand, however, he does think it's a bit sweet. Dipper recognises that Ford is lonely and that he doesn't get along with people very well. I think he's quite relieved to see his Great Uncle find someone who likes him for who he is, and even more so that Ford appears to reciprocate. Dipper adores Ford and he wants whatever makes him happy. It's nice to see him come out of his shell a bit and Dipper hopes, deep down, that it might give Ford some confidence in that department.
He's also just a little bit grossed out. He's 14, that's his Uncle, he doesn't really want to think about those things at large. It's not his business so he tries to stay out of it all where he can. Understandable, imo!
Regarding Reader in general, Dipper really likes them. They give him space when he wants it, they aren't pushy, and they have plenty of time for him if he'd like it. They're very encouraging of him and his pursuits. If Reader drives him anywhere (the store etc) then they'll let him ride shotgun and pick the music, which he likes. They treat him like and make him feel like a grown up. He isn't spoken down to in any way or bossed around.
Most importantly, he sees the way they treat the rest of his family with love. Reader indulges Mabel every time, even if they'd rather not, and they make time for everyone. I think that's very vital to him. He respects them for that.
Plus, they never tell on him if he stays up late or hides snacks in his bed, and they don't begrudge his messes even if they've recently cleaned up!
