Well, uh, how do I put it...
Let me be clear with my stance:
I hate billford. And I can and will be sounding like AM if i continue on speaking about how much I hate it. In any iteration, any timeline or au. It simply doesn't make any sense to me.
All I meant, is that I'm cool with Pre-portal Ford perceiving Bill as a muse. As someone, who gives him all the unconditional attention, praises and, for lack of better word, "love", which Ford craves, since every ounce of those were mostly conditional in his early life. Thanks, Pa.
But everything beyond that — is something that I cannot stand. Ford's just really likes his ego stroked and his abilities praised, and will do absolutely anything to get more of those. Especially, if he gets to do science at the same time! And I'm convinced that's the only reason he got shit on. Well, and his poor social skills, if he's not able to recognize such situations.
Personally, and 'cause of some TBOB pictures, I perceive that triangular asshole as something more close to Lovecraftian creature, or, to relatively new to me, King in Yellow. Oh and don't forget to throw already mentioned AM there alongside with Judge Holden. Let me explain and then I will circle back to Ford.
So, about the Lovecraft's pantheon and King in Yellow. Those relate to each other in a matter of creature being so unfathomable, that it drives human mind insane. That the only presence, or a simple gaze could permanently ruin someone's whole consciousness. In what this guys relate to Bill, it's in ability to manipulate our world even without physically being on the same planet, or in universe. And this ability only intensifies, if said creature is unleashed upon Earth. Which Bill does perfectly same: creeps into dreams, thoughts, minds, corrupting them. And just when he gets here — right away gets the 'admin' rights in a snap of fingers.
Also, giving King's ability to convey endless knowledge of Past, Present and Future to anyone looking at him, I see another link to Bill, who, throughout series and books now, was seen sharing the same kind of entries to characters and readers. Just not as dumping as King, but knowledge nonetheless.
Then there's this another side to my view of him. The similarities to just uncontrollable, insane chaos and hate, which births the desire to destroy and conquer. And here we have Judge Holden and AM as examples. I'm less confident in these, but I'll put 'em here anyway. (upd. I've read a little more on Holden and yes: totally someone I can see Bill in.)
So, back to Ford, since it's already more, than i wanted to write, lol.
Given the neglect, Ford is obviously tied to the desire of being the best. Because only the ones, who are the best, get the recognition, praises and approval. But I said it in the very beginning. But it's this, which makes Ford a perfect target for manipulation, for being exploited. Abuse comes not only in one form, you don't have to be in a romantic relationship to be a victim or an abuser. So I can absolutely see Ford push his enormous ego aside to grovel before the feeding hand, that brings said emotions.
If we take into the account several paragraphs of my rambling above, then we come to my conclusion: why would Bill even look at Ford as *something* more, than a simple can opener? The little tool, that lies somewhere deep in the drawer, useless, until you take it out for a mere second just because you want finally to take that wretched lid off the can of your favorite preserve. And, as soon as it is done, throwed away, used for it's singe purpose. In that example, that preserved goodies is Ford's home dimension of course — Bill's goal. Which is also interesting: why the hell this exact dimension? It was next on the list? Or simply because Bill wants to destroy something he can't have, for whatever reasons? Do we even know why? Well, anyway.
I wanted to list more examples, but they serve the same reason: why would someone without empathy, or any compassion and consideration towards others (even towards his own kind, man! Not even talking about something as strange to him as human) really care for a tool that he exploits for his goal. My answer to that: I donno, dude. But it's seems to me that that guy wouldn't care at all. Maybe perceive those, who crawl on their snags before him as worms and dust.
The other question: why a guy, who was graced, as he thought, by entity so powerful, that it can teach him to open the 'can' of the universe to the other dimensions, can answer all the questions, will reduce this all-knowing "god" to level of peasants by feeling anything towards it, but reverence and awe? My another answer: I donno, dude! But it's my point of view anyway.
That concludes my word-spilling frenzy. Sorry if it's too lengthy, but i really don't like being misunderstood.
