As a documentary photographer, I sometimes get flak for stepping in front of the lens, as do many other women with serious careers who embrace their bodies, their beauty, and the space they occupy in this world. We’re expected to stay in one box and not show the other sides of ourselves, as if that would somehow diminish the quality of our work.
