“Crash into Me” is a 1996 song by American rock group Dave Matthews Band. It was released as a single from their second album, Crash.  It reached #7 on the US Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.

Like most of DMB’s songs, Dave Matthews came up with the tune on his own, without lyrics, and brought it into the studio.  The first time the band heard the melody they knew it was magic. When they were laying down the tracks, Tim Reynolds noted that “Dave did so it would be stereo guitars in unison, kind of like when you do metal guitars. On each side, there is a guitar doing the same thing and it sounds really fat.”  Eventually, Matthews worked out the lyrics for the song.

Matthews explained the lyrics he came up with on VH1 Storytellers. “This song is about the worship of women.” But he noted it’s also from the eyes of a “little bit of a crazy man.” 

The music video was directed by Dean Karr and premiered on November 21, 1996. It depicts the band members in a woodsy setting dressed in forest dweller style clothing while surrounded by characters in various costumes who dance and perform around them.

Happy birthday to me!! I was given an awesome print of this. Then I gave it away to DJ Skirt. Then found out there were none left printed in that manner. It had red blood style splatters, it was great. @irrational_media did some more versions for a recent music industry meet in Birmingham, so I was cheeky and asked. Whoop!!
