Work on ancient DNA traces in fossilized ground squirrel scat from as old as 700,000 year ago found evidence of grasses, flowering herbs, spiders, insects, mammoths, bison and horses... anyway, I thought you'd enjoy a squirrel fact of the day!

Will there be plans to give Muraganda a stand alone set to itself? Having to share its debut with two already beloved planes seems very lackluster for its first real introduction.
It depends a lot of the response to Muraganda in Aetherdrift. Part of the reason we chose it as the third world was to get a chance to show it off.
Mark, I guessed long ago that the third unvisited plane for Aetherdrift would be Muraganda, but what I did not expect was such a lovely homage it would be Land of the Lost, Tarzan, When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth, One Million BC, and the 65000000 BC era of Chrono Trigger. Wow! As a paleontologist, I am absolutely here for some good old-fashioned rubber-suit dinosaur-people nonsense, in contrast to Ixalan, and went from zero to excited about Aetherdrift. High fives to Creative and others who decided to do Murganda, and decided to do Muraganda this way, especially Miguel Lopez for the Planeswalker Guide, as his writing is always a joy.

We have a thing we call the “Mythic Wall” where we can look at the mythic rares from the upcoming set and make notes about them to help make them the best they can be. This happens late in the process, but not so late that we can’t make changes. Wrestling is currently doing its Mythic Wall.
My biggest problem with Aftermath was that I expected it would be rich with clues of what was coming next, like an extremely tantalizing after-credits scene for an action movie, setting up several singles. Instead it was its own 'desparking' and omenpaths story -- which is fine, and a good story to tell, but not as satisfying in terms of hints. We learned King & Queen Kenrith are dead, that Saheeli and Huatli are on separate planes (which Saheeli will have overcome two sets later), and (maybe the best clue) was Sarkhan and Narset's cards hinting at the clan resurgence in return to Tarkir. What we could have gotten was a hint of an Eldraine youth who was more than he seemed (Kellan), the undiscovered secrets waiting below Ixalan, a hint about the rise of crime in post-invasion Ravnica, a hint about the Atiin discovering the omenpaths to Thunder Junction. Those sorts of sneak peeks would have been really cool, and would have made me inclined to buy more (I bought a bundle, but was considering buying a box).
I'm not sure what all was locked in at the time Aftermath had to be done with editing. We teased things we were able to. I'm not sure how much we could have teased, meaning it was things we definitively knew at the time.
I forgot to ask my birthday question this year! So I would like to ask: What is your favorite art on a magic card (that isn't Maro :P)?
Hey, I've been getting much more into the worldbuilding, story and art of Magic much more heavily recently, and Thunder Junction is becoming one of my favorite planes. Is there any chance at all that we get a post-set Planeswalker's Guide, or is it officially a lost cause? I know it's been a couple months, but I really think it might change the perception on the plane.
I can pass along the request, but I don’t anticipate that’s going to happen (the creative team is just very busy making all the future sets). I do agree that there are a lot of cool world building aspects of Thunder Junction that would be cool for the audience to know.
I agree that chances of it happening aren't great, and I can't see how to make it worth the creative team's time, but wow I'd be excited if we got it. Maybe some budget that is more tangential to OTJ can be found to support it? Hmm.

An equal number of my friends seem to think Duskmourne has too many legendaries compared to sets before DOM, as those friends who think Duskmourne has a deplorably low number of legendaries, and are upset they did not get more commander options for nightmares, horrors and demons.
This implies to me you are doing things just right, so kudos to you and your team for hitting the right balance at least from what I can tell.

There's a line in Gev's blurb in the Legends of Bloomburrow article that says he and Hugs are "inseparable, not only as mercenaries, but as partners."
The last time we saw two characters referred to as partners like this was Hal and Alena's blurb in the Legends of Crimson Vow article: "partners in both work and life."
Is this confirmation that Gev and Hugs are a gay couple? I'm kind of hoping so because there was definitely some subtext there in the story.
Hal and Alena's blurb was from a time before Wizards could officially call characters gay. We're beyond that now, so I'm not sure they'd be coy about it? It's possible, but I'd need Neale or Valerie to weigh in officially.
I have bad news: the attempt to split Tribal "cares about a type" and "the card type" into two different vocabulary terms seems to have failed in the general fandom. I've seen so many people just say "Kindred" for both now.
The general public can do whatever they like. We don't control their language. R&D, and as a result this blog, uses "typal" and "Kindred" appropriately, because the ambiguity is a problem for us.
So random question, after the fallout lair's success how likely is it you would say that Rad counters would ever return? They seemed to be pretty warmly received by the player base, but are understandably really hard to fit into the flavor of magic.
We can do them with a new name.

So far, I have not.
I just want to say that I'm a big fan of one-off poison cards like Persuasive Interrogators and Bloodroot Apothecary. It's always interesting to see old mechanics get new twists like this. I love giving poison counters when people don't expect them. It's a fun alternate way to win the game.

You've answered what colours you'd assign the Greek classical elements to, but what about the Chinese elements (fire, water, wood, metal and earth)?
Red - fire and Blue - water still feel right. The elements are literally in their mana symbol.
Green could be either wood or earth, although green’s mana symbol being a tree pushes me towards wood.
White is third in artifacts after red and blue, so I could do White - metal.
The real problem is black. I think Black - metal makes the most sense, more so than wood or earth.
So, it comes down to does White - earth feel better than Black - earth? Neither feels good with wood.
I think I end up doing Green - wood, Black - metal, and White - earth, but it’s not a perfect fit.
Having thought about this at length in the past, I considered allied and enemy pairs
WU - Metal UB - Water BR - Fire RG - Earth GW - Wood
or
WB - Metal UR - Water RW - Fire GB - Earth UG - Wood
But I think a mixed paired cycle might be best though:
WU - Metal UB - Water BG - Earth GR - Wood RW - Fire
It might also be useful to consider three color combinations, or even un-even cycles, as Earth is generally considered more 'central' and uniting than the other elements.
Just thinking outloud here for shards and wedges... GWU - Water WUB - Metal UBR - Fire BRG - Earth RGW - Wood WBR (Mardu) - Metal (Wbr) URG (Temur) - Wood (Gru) BGW (Abzhan) - Earth (Bgw) WUR (Jeskai) - Fire (Rwu) UBG (Sultai) - Water (Ubg) Of these, I think the wedges are a pretty good fit, and I don't see any need to do a mixed cycle. I've added a note of which color of the three should be emphasized, which is an even cycle, but not always the enemy color (enemy - Metal, Earth, Fire ; allied - Wood, Water).
Hi Mark! Excellent choices for the classical elements (White = Air, Blue = Water, Black = Aether, Red = Fire, Green = Earth)! Fun fact, each classical element was associated with a platonic solid by Plato: tetrahedron i.e. shape of a D4 (Fire), cube i.e. D6 (Earth), octahedron i.e. D8 (Air), dodecahedron i.e. D12 (Water), and icosahedron i.e. D20 (Aether). Noticably, this order of increasing faces when correlated to your element-colour matching is RGWUB: Kenrith, The Returned King's abilities in order from lowest cost to largest cost.
In other words, you accidently recreated WUBRG order with the classical elements! What a fun coincidence!
