The Art Assignment - Sorted Books my grandma's portrait_ by Ana Levisky
I've been watching it since its begining, but this is my very first shot at the Art Assignment! Today I was visiting my grandma, and I couldn´t help myself, it was as if her books were calling me. I really like the idea of portraying someone through books, I wish anyone would give it a shot with my own. It surely seems a nice way to get to know somebody. But in my case, I do think I know my grandma (at least, to some extent). So, it was nice to go through her personality by examining each shelf and recognizing her passions and interests instantly. The themes clearly repeat themselves, I felt like her library was carefully selected by someone trying to compose a character´s collection.
We are brazilian, so most of the books were in portuguese. They would have made incredible compositions, but I thought it would be nice if more people could understand them. And narrowing the options down to english books also made it easier for me to select them.
So yes, my grandma is a jewish cat lady who loves to paint. #theartassignment
