"We must stop equating 'skinny-shaming' with the abuse received by fat people. It is nowhere near as damaging."
these are the kind of articles that twist my gears. skinny shaming, fat shaming, shaming, in general, is disgusting and sad. coming from a person who is skinny, it is hurtful when i see these articles pop up. before, when i used to be ‘normal’––a period in my life where i was not fat, nor skinny. with my stomach not being too protruded, but still making an appearance. i was okay with it. but, as i focused on my diet and became who i really am, i got judged for it. my body type is skinny, thus, how much ever i eat, it will not affect my body too much. so what if i don’t eat as much as some may? i eat an amount which is healthy, and that is where the argument should stop. however, it doesn’t. people casually call me ‘too skinny,’ or, ‘you look malnourished.’ these comments hurt. they hurt more than one can imagine.
The plus-size-sisterhood can be frightening—not unlike playground bullies. Among the messages I received (interestingly, only from women, and mostly anonymous), I was called “skinny bitch,” “body fascist,” “fat-Nazi.” I was told that men “love something to grab onto” and that “curves” are sexier than the skeletal look, wrote Emma Woolf, the author of Ministry of Thin. the author of this article criticized this statement, stating that Woolf is wrong and that skinny shaming isn’t as damaging than fat shaming. i, however, feel differently. first of all, no one can compare what ‘is more damaging.’ you, me, the world, no one, and i repeat, no one can explain this by deeming it a fact. it is an opinion. yet, some do not understand. this quote is one that i can relate to. i am in social media more often than not, and i notice one thing. people comment on how boys like curves, and how being thick is the way to be attractive. how contradictory, isn’t it? lets rewind a bit.
now, the ‘ideal’ body type has been a changing concept that is dangerous and toxic. in the stone age, fat women were idealistic, for to survive, you had to be strong. to back this up, you can research about the Venus of Willendorf––a statue sculpted in the paleolithic era. then, a stark contrast was the age of flappers, which started in 1920. suffragists were ecstatic, for the right to vote was given to women in 1920. flappers brought immense change in society. because women were granted freedom, they no longer felt the need to be suffocated by corsets, and thus, wore dresses that hiked higher. they cut their hair to be shorter, and no longer wanted to have curves, as being skinny was all the rage. this age also made the obsession of weight more prominent. before, only the wealthy could check their weight, but now everyone could. people pinned the skinny look. with all of that being said, let’s talk about today’s idealistic beauty. we are conflicted, for society looks down on skinny and fat people. you know what the idealistic beauty is? an hourglass figure. slim wasit, flat stomach, a decent bosom, a thick dearie and wide hips. that is what we look up to. now, if you’re ‘too thin’ or ‘too thick,’ well, our fucked up socitey only has crude comments in store for you. and that is not okay.
back to this article, though. the title is “Please stop complaining when people call you skinny.” OK, Justine Wood, enlighten me why i should not complain. no, go on. your body type is as harmful as mine. naive, thick girls will bash skinny girls, and similar naive, skinny girls will reciprocate the cruel remarks. that is how it works. you cannot say who has it worse, for you’ve never met these people. and why do you want to bash skinny shaming if you’re against fat shaming? the words may be different, yes, however, the impact is similair. depression and sucide and despair are common for these people, no matter if they’re skinny or fat. they are being shamed for their body type, and that is not alright.
shaming is a word that needs to be taken seriously. no matter what kind of shaming, for they are all filled with misery and hatred. i won’t stop complaining if someone called me too skinny, and you, Justine shouldn’t stop if someone degrades you because of your shape. together, we should know that attacking somone else’s problem and calling yours more hurtful than theirs, is not going to solve the problem. on the contrary, it creates more. so, please refrain from putting down others, just because you think they’re are whining over nothing. if you are shamed, you should understand the pain and struggle. people expect so.
i’m just going to conclude by saying thsis: don’t compare, for your struggle is shared. you may have a prominant stomach staring back at you, another may have thin legs, but one thing that both of you share are people putting your beautiful figure down. rather than pointing fingers at each other, unite.
epitome of perfection. x

Rikkard Ambrose: You are late again! 25 seconds late, Mr. Linton.
Lilly Linton: You would know, Dick.
Rikkard: Respect, Mr. Linton! I do not pay you for useless comments because––
Lilly: Knowledge is power is time is money, I understand.
*Silence*
Rikkard: This time will get deducted from your wage, Mr. Linton.
Lilly: I don't think I'll have any money for my paycheck, noticing your stinginess.
Rikkard: Mr. Linton! I am still your employer.
Lilly: With you reminding me every second, it is hard to forget.
*Icy silence*
Rikkard: Get me file 3XY005, Mr. Linton!
Lilly: Yes, Sir. On my way, Sir!
so, as you can see, i am jobless as fuck. yes, i made this. it’s kinda cute, right? well, whatever. it is a Game of Thrones quote, if you haven’t noticed. i was obsessed with marble at the time, i think that is prevalent enough. oh, well, then. x
Storm and Silence
again, this is a Wattpad recommendation. whatever, I adore this book. because of the amazing text, the book got published (no surprise there, I would be worried if it wasn’t). the characters, the way it is written, and, oh, the research put into it is magnificent. it is surreal. the book it set in the Victorian era, and concentrates on our favorite protagonists, Lilly Linton and Rikkard Ambrose. the book has three sequels, with two of them already published. the book is refreshing and absolutely spiffing. dear wattpaders, go get your hands on this marvelous book, for this book is a great journey. x

do y’all have a Wattpad? if yes, then do read Crescendo by Lana_Sky. the book is the epitome of perfection, albeit it being rated mature. it is dark, yes, but the twisted nature makes the book what it is. Lana Del Rey’s Honeymoon album was my playlist for this book, as it reminded me of the book. the vibe of the album at least, not much of the meanings of the songs. anyway, go read the book, just be aware of the explicit content. x
