it's incredible that riot grrrl started out with a bunch of teenage-college aged girls going I have been abused and raped by the men in my life and continue to deal with it in the music scene i want to participate in, & for that we're going to create our own little section where we can do that and we are going to invite guys to join if they want but they have to be respectful of us, and all the lyrics were ABOUT being raped or followed on the street and abused at home by men and wanting them to be better, and every single person who got wind of this went Oh fuck you guys are man-haters. You hate men and yr all annoying ugly bitches. and that was in the 90s but no worries bc we have people in 2025 saying that exact same thing.
