Most of serial comics (from everywhere) just keep on going on and on untill people lose interest and they are consequently concluded hastily.

FMA is so well written that is clear that the author already knew how to finish it without wasting time or exploit its fame too much.

I’m not saying that every author has to do that. It’s just that you can tell the difference.
