100 Radio stemmed from the suggestion of friends who were fans of our input on various Facebook posts in addition to our own conversation starters. The spirit of the show is driven by our "shoot straight from the hip" type of attitude, which makes for a natural chemistry both on and off the air. Our goal is to share our humor infused intellect and commentary on everyday topics with anyone that can relate and to make a believer out of those that don't. For over a year we have provided a discussion platform for ourselves and others to discuss real events and situations of the world, our local community, and our personal lives.

Focusing on the urban community and aiming to deliver a non-mainstream, non-traditional point of view absent of filters or restraints. Seattle rapper The Good Sin is hardly new to making music although plenty of hip-hop fans along the West Coast are just starting to learn who he is. He’s spent the past few years developing a melodic and jazzy MCing style that’s helped him work alongside a virtual who’s who of Seattle hip-hop. He’s already collaborated on projects with celebrated producers Jake One and Vitamin D plus spent a chunk of his summer playing shows up and down the West Coast opening up for the Blue Scholars.

Even his stage name itself leaves an impression. Asked where his name comes from, he says “I just wanted to make people think so I came up with The Good Sin. If you break down the word, we all have good in us, and we sin as well. It’s a play on words for people to look inside of themselves.” Hip-hop comes natural to him as music was a big part of his up-bringing. “My parents would play Anita Baker, Living Colour, Earth Wind and Fire, the Isley brothers, and my mom would play us classical as well.”

Growing up in Seattle’s historic Central District, which gave rise to Jimi Hendrix, Quincy Jones, Wheedle’s Groove, Shabazz Palaces, Ernestine Anderson and even Sir Mix-A-Lot, The Good Sin was always exposed as a youth to high quality local music. He takes pride in his neighborhood and is ready to be a part of it’s rich music traditions.

The projects that he’s released to date have continuously captured the attention of music lovers, albeit for various reasons. His initial offering, Ready or Not (The Mixtape) showcased the baritone voiced MC spitting original lyrics over 23 already established industry beats. It caught people’s attention but it wasn’t until The Good Sin partnered with producer 10.4 Rog and released the jazzed out album Late that critics recognized he’d grown into his own skin. He admits that even those who believed in his music ability recognized that merely rapping over other people’s material didn’t prove enough.

In February of 2011, alongside producer 10.4 Rog, he released his first all original project. Throughout the nine track project, Late, listeners were introduced to the emotive songwriting and heart-driven chord structures that make The Good Sin the unique rapper that he is. It’s more than just a Big Daddy Kane-esque flow and a smooth-faced grin that make him a standout. It’s his willingness to rap about love, loss and laughter and directly address what every human experiences.

“The goal of Late was to talk about being on one’s own schedule. It’s about being present and accepting who you are. If you go by someone else’s standards, you’ll always be late or viewed as not where you’re supposed to be.”

With that in mind, he’s now working on his first full length solo album, The Story of Love and Hate. Fans will have to wait to see what guest artists appear on the project but The Good Sin laughs when asked what the album will entail lyrically. “It’s exactly what it sounds like. It’s about relationships, personal love, personal hate and needing to find a balance between the two.” Considering the duality that exists within us all, The Good Sin is an artist that is dedicated to expressing that contrast through his music.

On this track, the Good Sin links up with Portland’s own star producer Trox (@iamTrox) to vent on all things contradictory, the struggle between doing the right thing, or continuing to feel good doing the wrong things.

LOTS of Anger over rapper's 'Babies' Mamas', even so, Oxygen  WILL AIR the Shawty Lo's reality TV special.  This news reporter was OFFENDED to even say the title of the show - Shawty Lo finally responds and says he takes care of all of his kids, so stay OUTTA his business!

"You can hate all you want to, I didn't ask for it. It just happened. Now that it happened, I'm supposed to turn my back against it?" Shawty Lo told MTV News about his 11 children and untraditional family structure. "If I wasn't taking care of my kids then you would really dog me out, but I'm taking care of my kids, providing for my family. I don't know what else to say." - MTV News

The reality show has been called the worst reality show ever.  Compared to what!!??? "Best Funeral Ever" or "Catfish."

'Django Unchained' action figures went on sale this week!

 The National Entertainment Collectibles Association and the Weinstein Company released the figures, available on Amazon.com.

All of the film's stars have an action figure including Jamie Foxx's character, Django who is a freed slave. Alongside Django is his wife, Broomhilda (rocking her black and white uniform so as to serve her slave master), and Leonardo DiCaprio's character Calvin Candie who runs the plantation Candie Land.

University of Arizona now offers minor in hip-hop - Rap music is growing topic for academic study

Universities across the nation have offered courses on hip-hop culture for years, but the University of Arizona has decided to take its program further, adding the subject as a concentration in its Africana studies minor program.

The decision, announced in December, is part of a trend to give serious academic study to the subject.

And the new curriculum is bound to be a hit with Arizona students, said Alain-Philippe Durand, interim director of the Tucson school's Africana studies program. The university has offered hip-hop courses since 2004.

Last spring, a class on hip-hop cinema at the university filled up in a matter of hours, with students emailing the teacher in an attempt to add the course.

"Rap and hip-hop in general has become superpopular around the world," Durand said. "The main reason for that is that it affects every single discipline and aspect of society."

The addition of the minor is exciting news, said Steven Pond, associate professor and chair of the Cornell University music department. Cornell is at the forefront of applying serious study to the hip-hop movement, touting the largest hip-hop collection of music recordings, rare fliers, artwork, photography and other memorabilia.

"It's a very good development and an exciting one … the idea of acknowledgment of the deep impact hip-hop has in many areas, across cultures," Pond said. "I think it's a very positive development to see hip-hop enter the academy, even if it's a decade or even a generation late."

Arizona students hoping for an easy minor of just sitting back and listening to Jay-Z probably shouldn't enroll, Durand said.

The curriculum goes beyond the stereotypical gang and drug cultures to examine the movement's intersection with politics, marketing, fashion and other academic disciplines.

Durand, author of "Black, Blanc, Beur: Rap Music and Hip-Hop Culture in the Francophone World," said the idea to start a minor in the subject came to him after he noticed that he and his colleagues had expertise on hip-hop culture across various disciplines, such as film and music. They had enough courses among them to create a minor.

Durand and his colleagues made their best pitch to university decision-makers who obliged.

"The university itself is known for taking innovative steps like that," Durand said, citing the university's success in interplanetary exploration. "We break borders in astronomy and we break borders in hip-hop now."
