love this prompt bby!!!!
âIâm not going.â
âYes, you are.â
âI am not.â
âYou will.â
âI wonât.â
âMarkusâŠâ
âNorthâŠâ
âYou are insufferable!â
âAnd youâre crazy! Iâm not going on a date with a random guy.â
âWhy not?! Look at him-â she shoved her phoneâs screen in front of him, â-heâs gorgeous!â
âHeâs a catfish.â
âSays who?â
âSays me, North. Isnât it obvious? That man in the photo is a god.â
âSo itâs your duty to worship him. Just go already.â
âNo one with that face would be singleâ
âYouâre pretty and youâre single.â
âIt doesnât matter.â He waved his hand dismissively and scoffed. âIâm not going and thereâs nothing you can say to make me do otherwise.â
â-
Two minutes later, he was dejectedly walking out of the door of his own apartment.
âDonât forget to give him flowers!â He heard North laugh from another room.
Markus sighed and irately shut the door behind him.
As he got into his car, he wondered about the Connor he and North met online. He was dashingly handsome and spoke eloquently. Markus hoped he wasnât going to meet a fifty-year-old going through a midlife crisis. That would be too awkward.
What if it were a girl? That wasnât really his area. What if the person didnât show up? Heâd just treat himself to a donut or something, then. What if he was a serial killer? Markus supposed that heâd simply pretend to be a serial killer as well to throw him off.
He arrived at the cozy coffee shop and inhaled nervously. This was going to be fun.
As he walked up to the door, he spotted a fluffy head of hair and his heart stuttered. He shook his head. It was too good to be true.
He made his way to the counter, trying his best to not look at the familiar stranger sitting in near a large window.
âOne coffee, please.â He politely smiled at the blonde barista as he payed. Markus waited for his order, never glancing behind him. Why was he scared? He was used to disappointment.
The blonde handed him his order and he nervously swallowed the lump in his throat. He brought out his phone and texted his supposed date.
To: Connor  (possibly not his real name)
Iâm here. Where are you?
He stood, staring at his phone, waiting for a response with bated breath. His eyes kept darting back to the stranger with the soft tufts of hair. Markus was close to dropping his cup of coffee when he saw the stranger look at his phone.
Calm down. Why are you so nervous? Itâs either this goes well or you end up getting a donut. Maybe two donuts. Life is good.
âExcuse me?â He felt someone tap his shoulder behind him.
Markus jumped and turned around. âYes-â
Oh my god.
It was him.
The gorgeous âcatfishâ had the audacity to smile at him. âHello,â he said huskily, âitâs me, Connor. Iâm the person you talked to on Cyberlove.â
âOh.â Markus sincerely wished there wasnât any drool dripping from his mouth.
Connor blinked at him. âYou know, I was quite worried.â He laughed charmingly and Markus wouldâve cried then and there. âI suspected that you wouldnât have⊠quite matched your profile.â
âMe?!â He found his voice. âLook at you. Youâre so pretty.â He wanted to kick himself. Who even says that?
âThank you. I get that a lot.â Markus blinked. âWould you like to sit down now? I fear that your coffee is getting cold.â
Markus panicked. âIâm sure you can warm it up with your smile.â
âWhat?â
âSorry! I just⊠wanted you to think of me as cool and suave, but you surprised me.â
âOh, thatâs fine-â
âNot as fine as you, eyyyyâŠâ
ââŠâ
âSorry. Letâs just sit down now.â
North: Fuck the police.
Markus: (looking at Connor) Shit North, Iâm trying.
Connor:*thinking intensely*
Markus: Whatâs up?
Connor:âŠWhat are we?
Markus: Deviant Andro-
Connor: No. Like, are we a creature⊠or a thing?
Markus: Well, weâre alive so Iâd say we are creatures.
Connor: Right but weâre man-madeâŠ
Markus:âŠ
Markus: *thinking intensely along with Connor*
OMG I FUCKING LOVE THIS!!! Fair warning: a tiny bit dark. just how I like it.
âSo,â Markus raised an eyebrow as he gently tapped the end of his gun on his henchmanâs forehead, âwas it you who betrayed me?â
âNo!â He replied, sweat dripping down his face. âI never tipped anyone off! I swear! It was Jordan!â
Markus clicked his tongue. âI donât really like snitches,â he sighed exaggeratedly, âtheyâre so annoying.â
âIâm so sorry! Donât fucking kill me! Please!â He begged on his hands and knees as he sobbed for his life.
âI have an idea,â Markus smiled gently at the man, âI will forgive you, but you must do one thing. Do you swear your loyalty?â
âYes! Oh, god, yes!â He looked prepared to kiss Markusâ boot. Pathetic.
âAh, ah.â Markus shook his head as if he were talking to a child. âyou need to do one thing before I forgive you.â
âAnything!â
âShoot off one of your fingers.â
The blood drained from the manâs face. âBut I-â
âI can kill you right now, you know.â Markus gently placed his gun on the manâs hand. âHowever, I wonât. Everyone deserves life.â He smiled kindly. âExcept, well, youâve been a thorn on my side. I suppose you donât deserve a finger.â
The man was shaking with fear. He stared at the weapon in his hands. Markus only watched with a pitying expression.
âGo on, then.â He softly coaxed, his pretty features showing nothing but patience. âYour wife makes the sweetest pies. We wouldnât want anything bad happen to her, hmm?â
The man slowly brought up the gun to the level of his other hand. Tears were quickly falling down his sweaty anticipating face. âI canât! I canât!â
Markus softly brushed his hand on the manâs hair. âBut you must.â
âHoly shit, holy fucking shit-â
The man placed his finger on the trigger and Markus smiled-
âMarkus. A detectiveâs a the door.â The lazy voice of a young woman called out from behind them.
The godfather groaned, irritated. âIâm a bit busy, North.â
âI donât care,â she stated, âhe specifically asked for you.â
Markus glared at the man kneeling before him. With swift movements, he managed to get his gun back and have the coward groaning on the floor in pain.
âYou deal with him then,â he said as he grabbed his coat.
âFuck yeah-â
âNo, no, no!â The man managed to sound out, blood steadily dripping down his nose. âIâll fucking shoot my hand off! My dick off! Just donât leave me alone with her.â
Markus laughed and shut the door with a loud thud.
â-
The godfather grasped the door knob and prepared his prettiest smile.
âHello, what can I-â he looked at the most beautiful face he has ever seen, â-âŠdo for you?â
âMr. Manfred,â the boyish face said politely, âIâm a detective. May I ask you a few questions?â
âSure!â If the man, in that moment, had asked him to dance the Macarena with frosting all over his face, Markus knew he would. âPlease! Come in!â
âThank you.â The private investigator walked into his humble home and sat on the comfy sofa. A man died there once.
âSo, er-â the cute and awkward persona always worked on people. â-whatâs your name exactly?â
âApologies,â he said with a fair bit of shame, âmy name is Connor Anderson. Iâm a detective sent by the Detroit Police Department. Iâm here to ask questions.â
Markus casually sat next to him, getting as close to the man without making it strange. He smelled good. âOh? What sort of questions?â
âNeighbours have reported gun shots,â he stated, watching Markusâ face carefully, âperhaps you, or anyone in this household, have anything to help the investigation?â
Markusâ trained expression gave nothing away. âYes, IâŠâ He trailed off, looking scared, âThose were gunshots then? I guess I wanted to believe it came from the fireworks the little kids next door play with.â
âAre you sure?â He titled his head to the side.
The godfather nodded sadly, hoping his beautiful eyes caught the detectiveâs interest. âYes-â
âThereâs gun oil residue in your hands. The way you walk is asymmetrical, your right leg movement is hindered, most likely due to a heavy object attached to your waist. Probably a gun.â
Markus snapped his gaze upwards, a predatory hunger lingering behind his eyes. This man will be his now.
âInteresting,â he replied calmly. He drank the image of the detective in front of him.
Connor leaned in, attempting to be intimidating. All he accomplished was making Markus want to roughly kiss his jawline. âThe way you subconsciously adjust your body to get my view away from the right side of your waist indicates that youâre hiding something.â
âOh?â Markus raised a perfect eyebrow.
âYes,â he said back, âyou have a gun, donât you? Of course you know what a shot sounds like. You and I both know itâs not quite like fireworks. Tell me, Mr. Manfred, why lie?â
âWhatâs your favorite color?â
âPardon?â Connorâs gorgeous brown eyes widened.
âWhatâs your favorite color?â He hated repeating himself, but heâd make an exception for his detective.
âBlue,â he stated, âwhat does this have to do with anything?â
âIt has to do with everything, Connor. Tell me, flowers or jewellery?â
âMr. Manfred, this is an investigation-â
âConnor,â he smiled, a twinkle in his eyes, âflowers or jewellery?â
âJewellery has more value,â he said matter-of-factly.
âExcellent!â He clasped his hands together. âTell me, what made you become a detective?â
âTo help people-â
âBlah!â He brushed him off. âThatâs a dull answer. An answer you tell yourself every morning.â He winked. âI shall repeat myself: why become a detective?â
Connor looked uncomfortable. It was delicious. âI want to help people.â
âIf you canât answer,â Markus began, âperhaps weâll see how familiar we both are with gunshots.â He smiled like a Cheshire Cat.
âIs that a threat?â His detective narrowed his eyes. The godfatherâs heart stuttered. He was so brave!Â
Markus chuckled. âA suggestion, really.â
âBecause solving puzzles gives me a thrill.â The more he leaned in, the more the godfather could see the suspicion and aggregation behind the depths of his orbs.
âWhat sort of thrill?â Markus smiled.
âWhen I solve cases,â he said, âthat no one else can, I feel needed. Important. Alive. If I canât do just that-â he broke off, â-then what good am I?â
âCome back here tomorrow.â
âExcuse me?â His detective was bewildered.
Markus shrugged. âI have a job, too, you know.â
âBut, Mr. Manfred-â
âTomorrow, Connor. Six in the evening. Donât be late.â He stood up, making his detective do the same.Â
âMr. Manfred, please-â God, Markus wished he could make his detective beg more.
âSorry,â was all he could say, âtomorrow. Dress nicely.â And so he shut the door in front of him.
He smiled to himself.
â-
âWhat was with you out there?â Simon questioned.
Markus looked at him dreamily. âIâm in love!â
Josh answered. âNo, youâre not. Youâre infatuated. Would you risk our familyâs blood for a⊠twink?â
âNo, silly.â He shook his head. âOur blood will flow in his veins soon. My detective will be happy we saved him from such a dull world.â
âAnd youâre going to convince him by-â
âThrowing him a candlelit dinner when he comes by tomorrow!â He looked at his blond friend appreciatingly. âExcellent!â
âWhat the fuck-â North came in, small flecks of blood invading her otherwise pristine shoes.
âEveryone,â he said with his calmly commanding voice, âget all the information you can on a Connor Anderson. What he likes, what he hates, what he does, and everything else!â
North huffed. âThatâs so-âÂ
âYou get to do whatever you want to any of his enemies.â
â-not boring!â She whooped and turned the other way.
âSimon, my perfect little stalker, find anything you can on my detective. Have our men follow him around. Let everyone else know heâs off limits.â
The blond smiled and walked away.
âAnd Josh-â he looked at the man, âcook us dinner for tomorrow.â
The said person gained a determined look in his eyes.
