It’s 3am and I’m rambling about recovery but it’s so important my dudes
I don’t care if I’m being cheesy or cliche or whatever I hate how people are perpetuating this idea that living in agony every day is rElAtAbLe or funny, we’ve come leaps and bounds in mental illness acceptance but yall need to remember these are ILLNESSES. Illnesses require treatment, support, medication if needed. If left untreated they can RUIN YOUR LIFE. Stop making memes and take your mental health seriously if you’re struggling pLEASE
Not to be controversial but since starting recovery I’ve realised how much the content of your blog can influence your thoughts and perceptions about yourself. A blog can be a completely valid way of coping and venting but it’s important to know that the more you expose yourself to negative and triggering material the more you feed your mental illness. The more you read that stuff the more you begin to believe it and the stronger your illness becomes.
I know I’m guilty of this but it’s so SO important to distinguish between yourself as a person and your mental illness. Try to remember who you were before you got sick and if you can’t remember then try to find yourself again. Rediscover your talents, your personality and what makes you such an amazing person.
Mental illnesses can have a major impact on your life as most of you know, but your mental illnesses should never become your life.
Recovery is HARD, it’s uncomfortable or even can be painful. But nothing compares to the pain of living the rest of your life with your illness destroying you.

Man I never rant on here but I’ve already talked the ears of off all of my friends-
it genuinely breaks my heart as a geography university student with a deep love for the environment seeing this world deteriorate as all continents are hit with devastating natural disasters. The UK has been hit with 3 amber warning storms in the space of a month in a mild temperate climate. How can people not understand that climate change has caused our sea temperatures to rise so high that we’re having bomb cyclones in ENGLAND? Our oceans are predominantly cold and if we’re experiencing cyclones then there is so much worse to come for warmer waters. A climate emergency has been declared and we are yet to see changes in our system. How many scientific reports and articles does it take to tell people to wake the fuck up?! This is not normal compared to the trends of our current interglacial cycle and the way that we are living is destroying the only planet we have. But of course money and greed is more important to those that have the power to change things.
(Before you come for me I understand that it’s a colossal task to change the system that humans have created and saying it’s difficult is an understatement. Our lives are deeply intertwined with capitalism and the need for excess and we all add to the demand for goods produced from unsustainable practices because that is what we’ve been taught since birth. I’m just venting my frustrations about the fact that the very basis of modern human life is centred around exploiting our planet and how we’re effectively trapped in this cycle that will inevitably lead us to destruction.)
As long as I am acting out of love, I feel I am doing best I know how.
