the reason oppressed groups say “___ are awful” instead of “some ___ are awful” is because including the word “some” allows individuals of that group to detach themselves from the problem and shuck the blame off and say “well they arent really talking about me so i can ignore their opinions”, whereas stating that an entire group of oppressors is awful makes the individual think whether or not theyre included in the awfulness of that group and makes them consider their actions so thats why people say “men are awful” or “white people are awful” and if you take it personally you’re getting angry at the wrong people
#if you take it personally you’re probably part of the problem

Honestly..just hold those you love more, be more kind to them, this year has made me more and more aware of how fragile life is and how much we could lose in seconds.
Briana expresses her condolences x
You know what, though? Jay looked like she LOVED life. She was a midwife, she gave birth to seven children, she fought for life with her charities. She loved life, and I think life loved her back. She was always very positive and uplifting on social media, it wasn’t about her, it was about the others. Life is unfair and unpredictable, but I think Jay’s life extraordinary in its most basic definition.
As one who sits quietly in the background digesting information we receive about these young men on a daily basis I am not one to post my own thoughts. However, I wanted to take a moment to touch on Leukemia - the blood cancer that took the life of Mrs. Johannah Deakin as well as many others around the world. Leukemia is a cancer of the blood. Leukemia occurs when the bone marrow produces abnormal or immature blood cells. These abnormal cells grow and divide more rapidly than normal, healthy cells. Over time, these abnormal cells can crowd out healthy blood cells, leading to fewer healthy white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. This horrible disease can have a rapid onset which is probably what happened with Mrs. Deakin. I am fortunate enough to work in a field performing clinical research on therapies to fight Leukemia and other cancers of the blood. Please know that there is ground breaking research being conducted as we speak. I am personally involved with one such therapy to help fight Leukemia specifically. While still in the clinical trial stage this treatment is showing much promise. There are times like these when I wish all people with late stage cancer could have access to experiemental treatments. I know Louis will never see this but I want him to know that there are people out there doing work to help rid people of the very disease he lost his mother to. My heart goes out to Louis, his family, and all ther other people out there dealing with Leukemia. We are working tirelessly to find a cure. Thank you.
A week ago you said to me “do you believe I’ll never be too far? If you’re lost, just look for me, you’ll find me in the region of the summer stars”. The fact that we can sit right here and say goodbye means we’ve already won, a necessity for apologies between you and me, baby, there is none. We had some good times, didn’t we? We had some good tricks up our sleeve. Goodbyes are bittersweet but it’s not the end, I’ll see your face again
