âyoung adult dystopian novels are so unrealistic lmao like they always have some random teenage girl rising up to inspire the world to make change.â
a hero emergesÂ
And just like in the novels, grown men and women are going out of their way to destroy her. Support our hero.
And itâs not even like it doesnât happen regularly. Â
Teenage girls are amazing.
Sometimes theyâre not even teenagers
Reblog every time a girl is discredited/ignored
oppression isnât generational and trying to frame politics as âthe old people are wrong and the young people are rightâ erases the fact that there are old people who have been fighting the good fight for decades and the fact that there are young people who are literally nazis
Plus while there might be less old people fighting the good fight itâs usually because they were killed or were part of the minorities that have poor living conditions that kill you early
As came up recently, in fact: Seniors Are More Conservative Because the Poor Donât Survive to Become Seniors

These are the best two foraging authors Iâve found so far, Euell Gibbons (1911-1975) and Samuel Thayer. They actually live(d) the foraging lifestyle and wrote/write from experience, so you know the plants theyâre talking about are safe (otherwise these guys wouldnât have lasted very long).
The books above are as listed: âȘStalking the Healthful Herbs by Euell Gibbons âȘStalking the Blue-Eyed Scallop by Euell Gibbons âȘEuell Gibbonsâ Beachcomberâs Handbook âȘIncredible Wild Edibles by Samuel Thayer âȘNatureâs Garden by Samuel Thayer âȘThe Foragerâs Harvest by Samuel Thayer
Unfortunately thereâs a lot of misinformation out there, both printed and online, thatâs why it is so very important to use multiple sources (preferably firsthand) when learning about a potential edible plant, and to learn the edible plantâs inedible look-alikes so you can differentiate between them. When in doubt, donât eat it. Itâs not worth it.
These books are definitely worth a read though. They have firsthand information on edible plants, their inedible look-alikes, when to harvest, what parts to harvest, and even general ideas on how to prepare them. Samuel Thayerâs books include plenty of color photographs on top of detailed descriptions of both the edible plants and the inedible ones (read photo descriptions!), so identification is much simpler.
There is one book by Euell Gibbons, Stalking the Wild Asparagus, that I havenât found in my local used bookstore yet so itâs not pictured, but I definitely plan on getting it when I find it!
Iâm always looking for good foraging information (preferably from people who actually eat the plants and mushrooms that theyâre writing about), so if you know of any please comment!
