Never judge a book by itās cover unless itās a book, since professionals get paid to make good covers that is relevant to the bookās content.

I hit reblog so fucking fast and hard I broke my goddman laptop
Hi hello, I just started my nursing class and holy shit. Professors assign us to read 1-4 chapters and take notes. Iāve looked at each chapter of the book and each one have 20-30+ pages and reading and taking notes is a living hell, itās frustrating. I just wanna get some advice from you on how to get through these chapters and take notes. Did you you read each chapters then took notes after or took notes while reading them. Need help š expecting an exam in a few weeks.. thanks in advance
Dear Anon,
Hereās my advice:
Kidding! So, hereās what I did. First, I read the key notes at the end of each chapter. Boom! You now have a basic understanding of the chapter. Then I go back and read the headers of each section. Then I go back and read the first sentence of every paragraph. Then I go back and I read anything in bold. Then I read every caption for the illustrations/photos/graphs. Lastly, I re-read the key points and/or summary at the end of the chapter.
If you have time to read the entire chapter, do it. If not, the aforementioned technique may be helpful.
Good luck!

If you are an idiot but speak 5 languages, then you are still an idiot, but more people can know.
I know I sound annoying when I insist to give report, but Iām trying to do whatās best for you and the patient.
āthe next nurse wonāt be able to answer all your questionsā and the floor nurse thatās taking report wonāt be able to answer all the questions of the incoming floor nurse whoās actually going to be taking care of the patient. like lol what. itās repeatedly been shown that most errors can be attributed to something missed in handoff and that the fewer handoffs that happen, the better for the patient. I realize you want to go home but realistically you should have been cognizant and tried to get the patient up sooner but you couldnāt/didnāt so now the responsible thing to do is take the hit, stay a little later, and wait to report to the oncoming nurse.
So, this just shows the disconnect between units. This floor nurses think ER nurses are slacking and purposefully waiting until shift change to get patients upstairs. The reality is that Iām waiting on admission orders, a bed assignment, and calling report as soon as I possibly can. Why? Because I have another stroke alert, trauma alert, seizure, stabbing, GSW rolling through the ambulance bay doors and I need a bed for that patient now.
I was an ICU nurse. When the ED called report, I took it, regardless of the time. They have a job to do and I have a job to do. I chose to work together for the best possible outcome. Nurses like this are the reason there is continued conflict and animosity between units.
Iāve walked a mile or two in both shoes, so Iāve been there and done that.
See.. in the NICU they just come down. Lol.
