She giggled, “Probably, and we won’t know for a while until she’s a couple years older, but she might be.” the little one was gazing up curiously at the white haired woman, sputtering and cooing as she reached up a mittened hand to brush at her  chin and lips, “Her name is Kya.” she told her friend.

“Sounds rather exhausting and how’d the father hold up?” Yue teased now, always the playful sort.

“He’s still wrapping his head around having to get up so early and constantly changing messy diapers. But she’s got him wrapped around her little finger.”

The mother blushed softly, “You just kinda figure it out as you go, I guess. Plus Gran Gran gives me advice whenever I need it.” she explained, stroking her child’s cheek with her finger as Yue held her.

When our mom died, that was the hardest time in my life. Our family was a mess, but Katara? She had so much strength. She stepped up and took on so much responsibility. She helped fill the void that was left by our mom.
