I wonder how often long-running series have those storylines that give people doing a rewatch absolute Mind Blown Epiphanies, going "holy shit they foreshadowed this plot arch just once, in an one-time gag, sixteen years ago!" were actually prompted by the original writer/artist going like "ah shit I ran out of plot" and going back to rewatch the first few chapters and suddenly remembering "wait hold on, I never gave any kind of an explanation to why the hell the gardener can apparently just fuse through a wall whenever someone else has opinions about pipe tobacco."
