Grace was thrilled to get a coffee maker and a new stand mixer for her bakery, La Grande Patisserie. Coffee pairs so nicely with the French-inspired pastries that are made here! Sit at the counter and she’ll pour you a fresh cup from the pot.
I lucked out at the thrift store finding these child-sized pink kitchen appliances that are perfect for Grace. The mixer is bigger than the one I had from her collection, and the coffee maker is so cute! I can’t stop playing with it. Pressing the button opens a small hole to drip the coffee into a mug, and makes brewing noises when it’s switched on. I do need to find a bowl that fits the mixer, or I’ll end up making one somehow.
I did make Grace’s outfit. Not everything looks good on her, so I like dressing her in clothes that match the predominant colors and styles of her collection. I used Lee & Pearl’s Bonjour Paris pattern for her shirt and cuffed shorts. I made the little coffee pot in the last image using this tutorial.
saige and my new tm 40, bridget!!! my ig is overthegardendolls if you’d like to see the other photos from this shoot :-)
When we started this AG Journey, we were even more frugal than we are now. I made almost everything from scratch. Tenney, the first doll, was purchased with Kohl’s cash given to me by my mom. At some point, I was so inspired by all things Maryellen that I made this pull out couch. I even knitted her blanket. Comparatively, the proportions are all wrong but I’m still fond of it. The AG version was a steal I found for $15! I’ll have to knit a larger blanket for it this summer :)
Elle (Joss) has arrived early and I’m so happy I can show you the end result! I actually did her eye and wig swap today as well as a face up I was so excited 😆
Elle (Joss) will be here next Tuesday!
To celebrate I made the first book out of her GOTY duology
Elle is an aspiring 12/13 year old singer and songwriter who lives in New York with her parents, older brother Hunter and her dog Davy.

I always thought Caroline had the prettiest coloring of the historical characters but her main drawback was the classic face mold, so I decided to try my hand at a slightly different version using a Joss face. I call her Caroline Charlotte Thackeray to differentiate her from AG’s Caroline. She’s quite pretty, but I haven’t entirely made up my mind yet. Maybe with a dress in a softer color?
Happy MerMay!!!
Hi all! I’d been wanting to compile this for a while and though it’s not necessarily complete I thought it was good enough to share. I constantly find myself switching my brain in 18” mode in order to find workarounds to the excessively expensive hobby I won’t give up. Especially since I was into this as a kid but recentlyish got back into it, learning how to find things online did have a slight learning curve. Since back in the day all I did was circle things in a catalog and then my parents picked which things to get me. Some of this may seem obvious, but I wanted to this to be helpful for even the newest AG explorers, so here we go!
Hacks for AG Collectors
- Blythe doll items that fit: sunglasses, hats, wigs. Especially if you like rewigging this is a great resource because they make loads of unique wigs in a huge variety of colors and styles
- Placemats make excellent area rugs
- Doily tablecloths (the small cheap white ones are cute, but there are also much prettier vintage, antique doilies and printed ones easily found at thrifts and fleas)
- They made/make jewelry boxes that look like AG sized dressers and even larger ones that look like little armoires for dolls!
- Also jewelry boxes shaped like AG sized trunks and hope chests
- Trinket and pill boxes: jewelry boxes
- Salesman’s samples can be amazing antiques and doll sized! Just pay attention to measurements. I’ve seen everything from AG sized cast iron sinks to MCM dressers to antique hoosiers to the irl mini version of Kit’s stove
- Coasters: they’re all different and good for so many different things! Anything from wall hangings, placemats, the top to a handmade side table, a tea tray. Keep your eyes peeled!
- Soy sauce and trinket/ring dishes as plates
- Small creamers from human sized tea sets make great pitchers/vases
- On that note: shot glasses = vases
- Timers shaped like kitchen items such as mixers, coffee grinders, teapots, percolators, etc
- Looking for a doll sized gramophone or radio? They made/make music boxes shaped like tiny versions (just check measurements! But almost all I’ve seen are good to go)
- Dish towels are blanket sized! Some of them are pretty and fluffy enough to do just that job
- 1:12 bookshelves and similar can be AG sized wall shelving or cabinets! I’ve seen simple mirrored 1:12 armoires that would be great bathroom medicine cabinets
- 1:12 scale picture frames can also be very useful. The “larger” art frames work as smaller more standard sized 4x6/5x8 type frames for AG
- 1:12 scale vase = bud vase
- Speaking of 1:12.. the 6” mini dolls are that scale in case you didn’t know, so all 1:12 minis are great for “AG scale for AG dolls”
- Plant stands and risers can be coffee/side tables
Also,
List of Brands that fit AG dolls:
- Our Generation
- My Life As (Shoes are tight)
- Queen’s Treasures
- Sophia’s by Teamson Kids
- Disney ILY 4ever (shoes are big)
- Carpatina (not the slim ones!)
- Playtime by Eimmie
Helpful ways to search:
- unless you’re looking for a 1:12 item,
use -“1:12” -“1/12” -“1:6” -“1/6” when searching the word miniature, mini, etc
- Search for teddy bear furniture. It’s typically a similar scale
- “Children’s tea sets” have a tendency to be AG scale
- aliexpress is a great way to find cheap small things if you’re patient! I’ve gotten great doll shoes (among other things) from there for roughly $3 a pair in cute colors and styles. Just search “18 inch doll”
I am by no means an expert, so please if anyone has anything to add let me know! If I think of things, find new information, etc I’ll update it :)
👋

Doll Collector Call to Action (please RB/boost)
The US National Black Doll Museum closed their doors due to Covid-19, and they lost their physical location.
During the month of February 2022, which is Black History Month in the US, they are trying to raise $100,000 for a new physical location in Attleboro, MA (USA). Please consider donating. You do not need to choose any of the default amounts. Click "Just helping" at top right (after clicking the support button) and type in the amount you would like to give. If 8,500 people gave $10 USD each, they would meet their fundraising goal. Donations are tax-deductible charitable donations in the US.
Also - please consider reblogging/boosting.

What Prom Dresses I’d Give To The AG Characters
Elizabeth is going to be a shiny nuisance in this wet, metallic princess dress.
Caroline needs a simple yet classy dress. Why? Well you never know when you’re going to need to steal a boat.
Marie-Grace figures that anything Cecile wears will match with cream. Right? Right?
Cecile and Marie-Grace need to coordinate better. At least it’s better than last time.
It’s totally not Samantha’s Christmas dress.
Rebecca always dresses simple yet elegant.
There is no pink in Kit’s dress, she made sure of that.
Ruthie’s on the other hand…
Julie has surprisingly gone for a simpler style.
Unlike Courtney, who can be used as an emergency flair if the prom heads south.
Lindsey had to be sure to make sure she could still scooter to prom!!
Kailey is LITERALLY a jellyfish.
Marisol’s dress confirms she’s to cool for us.
Jess’s dress is perfect, just like her.
I actually don’t mind Nikki’s dress.
Nothing screams Chrissa like a tie-dye dress with lots of fluff.
Gwen knows what she likes, and that’s a nice quality to have.
We still love you Lanie, even if your dress is questionable.
Are you sure this isn’t just your party dress, Kanani? Okay..
Leave it to Saige to paint her own dress!!
I’m not totally convinced this isn’t one of your ballet costumes, Isabelle.
Grace’s dress now goes for $600 on the second hand market.
I regret to inform that Lea still struggles with picking cute outfits.
Luciana has a specially made dress made of pure star dust.
Blaire could probably fly with all those feathers if she tried hard enough.
Joss is absolutely stunning in this princess gown.
Rumor has it that Corinne’s dress is made out of genetically engineered snow.
Makena found this dress thrifting!!
And Evette found this one!!
Maritza is going for a prom jumpsuit so she can sneak onto the field and play some soccer.
