In the beginning, the first route, Kaito had chosen to side with Nohr believing them to be not only his family, but believing that by staying in Garon’s good grace’s, he could figure out the truth of what was going on. Of course, he was traumatized after the events seeing Sakura lose her mind, and Takumi and Ryoma dying. 

After the war he fell into a depression, one day waking up, and he was suddenly back in the Northern Fortress with Felicia and Flora. The second route had started though he had no real idea what was going on. It felt like an awful nightmare, and he didn’t put two and two together until he sided with Hoshido this time and had to go through the same thing- but this time with Xander, Elise, Leo, and Camilla.

It took him almost a year and nearly losing his sanity until he managed to find the one chance with Aqua that they had of fixing things. This was the final route, Revelation- and with the help of his family and friends he defeated Anankos, and restored balance. Successfully ending the time loop.

In the end, Kaito refuses his birthright as King of Valla and gives it instead to Aqua, deciding to be her right hand and advisor. He would also represent Valla if summoned to Nohr or Hoshido. He still keeps very good relations with all of his siblings- even through the trama, Kaito wants to be there for them, and enjoy the time he has with a family he always wanted.
