i wish i knew what i looked like at my lowest weight. the first time i tried to recover i deleted all the pictures i had of my full body so i wouldnât be able to trigger myself with them. (and this was pre everyone having a smart phone, so everyone took less pictures in general back then) but itâs so weird to have no context for how my body was, because iâve felt like iâve always looked the same even at my higher weights. i just have zero ability to picture myself physically with any accuracy, without the means to compare pictures. my weight is only a feeling to me.
A not-at-all-comprehensive list of possibilities for communicating distress around body image that are not the hurtful & nonsensical âI feel fatâ:
I am afraid of taking up space
I feel exposed
I feel unsafe
I donât feel heard
I feel rejected
I feel like Iâm coming out of my skin
I feel the need to escape [my body, this room, this situation]
I donât want to be here right now
I am experiencing overwhelming shame
I am afraid of not meeting peopleâs standards
I feel grief/shame that x aspect of my body is stigmatized
I keep hearing other peopleâs judgments of my body in my head
My judgments of my body are so loud right now
My eating disorder is being so cruel
Iâm afraid of my hunger
I feel out of control
I feel that Iâve failed to do the ârightâ behaviors
I am feeling unable to trust my body
I feel grief, anger, etc.
I need to cry, yell, etc.
Iâm afraid Iâm unlovableÂ
I fear that Iâm âbadâ and my body must be âbadâ too
I am angry at/afraid of my body for being the site of my trauma

You have permission to eat. Even if you:
havenât exercised
eaten too much yesterday
eaten too much today
donât know the exact nutritional value of the meal
have gained weight
arenât feeling hungry âenoughâ
feel like you donât deserve itÂ
itâs actually so fucked up that i get proud when i donât eatÂ

Progressing and meditating...
My bracelets are falling further up my arms and my rings further down my fingers...
Hey like full offense but diet culture is quite literally designed to manipulate women into destroying themselves physically and mentally and I have no patience for even a little bit of it
